Hi,
I planted a few in a very low, frequently damp area. It was given to me in 3 gallon pots, its been in the ground about 3 weeks. It was looking good but the leaves are curling up. I supsect it is either too much sun or too wet. I will probably have to move them but just fertilized to see if the possibly bounce back. Anyone know why the leaves are curling?

Variegated shell ginger, leaves curling
The leaves tend curl on these plants if they receive direct afternoon sun. Filtered sunlight or bright shade is helpful in our hot summers. Mine receive just a little early morning sun and then bright filtered shade the rest of the day. The leaves curl when the humidity is low which should not be a problem in Houston. The leaves have never curled on mine in San Antonio.
