anyone had any luck growing begonias from seed??
I,m thinking its just a scam to suck in unsuspecting folks(me) into buying seed and then finding out that it can,t/won,t grow.

begonia seeds
It depends on the seed (is it fresh or stale, is it fertile or sterile) and the grower (patience of Job, equipment, etc). It is a great way to get a lot of plants for a little bit of money but can also be a long drawn out process. I have grown some begonias from seed but I do it as pot luck by sowing my own harvested seed now and without any fanfare (no special cups, soil, humidity covers, lights, etc). I have had bad luck with purchased seed (very poor germination rate) but I attribute that to old stale seed.
There are many people who have such a way with seed that is how they prefer to get new plants.
does anyone know where to get begonia socotrana as seed or tubers?
