nasturium question

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

Is it too early to sow these outside yet? I am actually planting them into a raised bed. Should I soak them before I sow?

Columbia, MO(Zone 5b)

I have already sown them outside and some are now coming up. I did soak them the night before.

I wonder if Oregon being wetter and cooler than Missouri if it wouldn't be better to wait till the ground begins to warm up. Do nasturiums need warmer soil temps?

Just looked on the seed pack and it says you can plant about a week before the last frost date so I would assume that cold soil would not be a problem. Says to plant in full sun and 40-55 days to bloom. :^)

I am in 8b and mine have been outside doing great for about a month. I know your frost date is probably different from mine, but as long as it is close or has passed I think you are OK.

Here are mine.

Good point about the frost date. This year we have been much cooler than usual but I believe you are both correct. I could probably plant.

Joann. Planted some today as a matter of fact and I am close to your neck of the woods. I never soak them.. just stick them in the ground. Great easy plant .. :)
