Orange zinnias and purple verbena

Sugar Land, TX

Do you think that would be a nice butterfly magnet for my patio?

I'm looking for something that I can bring in close, that will have a lot of color to attract the butterflies.

So far, they occasionally land on my nectar plants, but I have quite a bit of milkweed, so they seem to use that as their nectar preference as well. I'm hoping that as the season gets going and I get more butterflies, that they'll be attracted to more stuff in my yard.

Zinnias are always a hit in my garden. I just carpet-bombed a few of my beds with zinnia seeds and they are starting to emerge! I have Tampa verbena which is purple and the smaller butterflies really seem to go for it, especially where it is mixed with the Spanish Needles. So far my biggest nectar plants are porterweed, plumbago, and blanket flowers. This time of year the bfs are favoring the salvias and the bougainvillea as well.

Well, I planted some orange zinnia with purple verbena in pots, and some pink zinnia in my back garden. Hopefully, if I plant it, they will come. haha

Hey, that's what I tell everybody. I just had my first Zebra ST cat on the pawpaw I planted last fall. They'll find you, don't worry!
