Need some brug help!

I have two brug san???? I can't spell it!!! They are red and can be started from seed if that helps. I started these back in March of this year. My problem is they are nice and green a sort of lime green. They are about 3 foot tall but striaght stemmed no branching and don't see any signs of them doing so. I keep them watered as I see the top of the soil dry. I also fertilize once a month with a 20/20/20 fertilizer. I have to stake them or they fall over. What am I doing wrong!! I have seen pics of them and they have a woody like stem and no stakes. My stems are green. I sure hope ya can help me I want to see these bloom. I grow daturas and have excellent luck with them and have fallen in love!! Then I saw brug pics and well it is love at first sight!!! LOL!! Thanks for any help ya can give me!! Happy Gardening!!!

don't know if this is the cause of them being weak, but they are very heavy feeders. Jump to once a week.

Pinch out the top and they will branch. I'm no pro, but this works for me.

Sarah,
Where do you live? I understand this Brug doesn't like the heat and humidity. I live in South Mississippi and there is no way it will grow here..I have tried more then once.

sarah, i think brugcrazy said she actually braided her stalks to keep them up, hopefully she will be by to help.

Sarah: Are your sanguineas in pots or in the ground? I have one in a pot that was quite leggy so I espallied it. Looking kind of cool, but no buds yet. They will not form buds until the second or third year. Once they form a Y then you will see buds. Keep them well watered, not too much direct sunlight and try feeding them 10-52-10 to force some flowers. I have one covered in buds right now, but it is the third year for this plant and it is in the ground, winter protected. The ones in pots haven't flowered yet ( 2nd year plants). Hope this helps.

Brugcrazy I hope you'll post some pictures when it blooms. I have two sanguineas too. If I had known this was such a hard one to to bloom ... I think I would have started with an easier one.

Brugcrazy - do you still have my pixs? Can you post them? I have 3 different varieties of sanguinea - but am totally picture posting challenged. Obviously - I can grow - but I can't show.

My brugs are in pots here in the house. I live in southeastern Ohio. They are sitting in a west window and have been feeding them 10-30-15 I think it is here as of the beginning of this post. Before that was using 20-20-20. Thy have gotten so tall and the stems will not suport the height. I put stakes in them and so far so good but they keep out growing my stakes. No signs of branching yet either. I knew these babies got big but didn't know they go this big this fast!!! LOL!! Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am totally new to brugs. Thanks so much!! Happy Gardening!!!

they could possibly not be getting enough light. Once a month feeding could possibly be enough for inside, but my outside brugs get fed every 5 days.
