What kind of a fruit tree has purple flowers and grows in zone 5? It's configuration is similiar to an apple or cherry tree. I can't get a photo because it's in someone else's yard.

This possibly? A Paulownia?

Possibly may also be a Redbud since they have purplish flowers but they only are rated down to zone 6.

I've checked out several photos of Redbud blossoms and I don't believe that's what it is. What I saw was more purple-ish. Also it's definitely not a Paulownia. Does anyone else have suggestions? I finally broke down and called the woman that owns the tree but she didn't know what it was. I've sin ce seen one other one in a nearby city. The configuration looks like apple or cherry blossoms. The tree seems to have a fairly short trunk and the branches are kind of bushy looking. I have in mind some sort of fruit tree.
Could it be a crabapple? To me they are more deep pink than purple, but they do look like an apple tree.
Don't think it's an apple. They're mostly pink. This is more the color of a lilac.
Could this be it? I have never seen one, but I found it in Plant Files:

It could be a redbud. There are different types. My redbuds are definitely purple. Did you see any leaves on it while it was in bloom? The redbud puts out blooms before leaves.

I think that it is actually either an Eastern or Canadian Redbud. Thank you all for searching for me.
It could be a Paw Paw tree. Have you ever seen the fruit? Paw Paws are like short fat green bananas. They also taste a little like a banana custard. Very good. The blooms are purple and I think on the large side.
