lol, i was bored so I mutilated a few trees. The small one to the right will be covered in white flowers.
I still have to fatten them up but I wasn't concerned with that yet, lol.
I am going to do a lot of under planting with some weeds I found today. They bloom and stay just tiny! So pretty, will be my "azaleas" LOL.
It is way far from finished, the wrong moss and all. It'll do for now.

Looks like a Virginia juniper, and common privet (which has white flowers). Are both of the broad leaved plants privet?
From what I have read our native Virginia juniper is considered a difficult bonsai candidate due to growth habit. I love the look of the mature trees but they are painfully prickly to work around.
Do you have any mountain laurel around your place? That would be a beautiful bonsai in spring. The leaves are not too large and the flowers are individually lovely.

Ya know, we probably do have some laurel around the woods. Ill have to check that out when i can sneak off, lol.
The one to the left is a privet, the right one blooms white and has soft slightly hairy small leaves.
Theyre reallllllly pretty when big and blooming.
I need to come visit you and get some rocks. I love those flat, lichen covered plates that you are using. About all we have is a cherty, weathered limestone, which is very fossiliferous but not terribly useful for bonsai purposes.
Can you post a closeup of the leaves of the non privet plant? I am curious and want to know what it is.

The whole thing only took like 15 minutes to do. Ive still got limbs to wire and remove.
I gather rocks as I find them. Most of these flat rocks I think we got from Hillis father, I can check the property here but he lived somewhere else.
I'll post some pictures ASAP of some REALLY nice rocks we got from Roy, so heavy it takes a couple people to lift them.
They have mountains and valleys in them. So awesome!
They don't have moss on them, I added all that lol.
