Good article on bees in the NY Times
That was a very interesting article. I used to work at an apiary, and I am considering having a hive or two of bees one day. I can't see that happening anytime soon but it's worth dreaming about...
"Its petals are joined, with a very small opening, so the bee can’t even force himself inside,” Mr. Seidler said. “That’s why buzz pollination” — the bumblebee’s specialty — “is more effective.”
Sounds like this Mr. Siedler needs to review his bee 101 course book. Male bees/drones do not do any pollinating and are the minority gender in any honeybee hive. It's hard to take anyone seriously who would make such a basic mistake when talking about bees as an expert.
