Prunning cv hibisuc

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have about 15 or so hibiscus that are the common c v varieties. During the winter they got tall and lanky. My name/color tags faded so I am unsure of the colors. I want to let them bloom prior to cutting them back by a third. Also like to try rooting the cuttings which does better with the warmer night temps. If I cut back by 1/3 about how long of a wait do I have before new growth and blooms arrive ? I plant in ground in pots for easy digging up prior to freezes. Will planting them and then prunning make any difference in bloom time ?
I love the photos of your exitic ones but just can not spring for that much cash at this time. Would love to root some of them if anyone has cuttings.
Thanks for the beautiful photos and any help with my desires or questions will be helpful.

DD, new growth appears just in few days but blooming can delay a pair of months. As you're unsure about the colors of untagged plants you can prune now most of their branches and let one or two to know which bloom they show. You can prune them at the same time you plant them in the ground.
Most of exotic hibiscus do not root as well as garden varieties. Some need to be grafted.

Thanks for the info.
Hate to have that long of a wait for blooms so leaving some shoots is a great idea.
May prune one into a poodle type plant.
