I love everything that comes from a bulb , but I never know how to arrange them
Do you have beds just for them, do you plant them here and there? I haven't planted a lot cause I just don't know how to do the beds? Does each one need it's own bed, or do you mix them up. Do they all need full sun. I have some lilies that are in part shade and they seem to be doing well, at least they are multiplying
See, told you I didn't know anything!!
A new bulb fanatic
Lorraine, glad to see you're wanting to get into more bulb plants! All my spring favorites are bulb plants and I can't imagine spring without them. I do use a lot of bulbs worked into my mixed beds and borders, but be aware that many spring bulbs prefer dry summer dormancy, especially tulips and hyacinths. I use those in areas of the garden I know I won't need to water during summer. Most bulb plants look good in clusters or clumps in the garden, rather than just single bulbs set here and there, and I think its extra eye catching to repeat clumps of the same variety or color here and there. Most enjoy sun on their leaves, but many do most of their growing before trees leaf out (daffs and crocus especially) and will do well in those areas. Trees can also use most of the moisture in these areas in summer, giving the bulbs the dry summer baking they so appreciate. In your zone some may not get the winter cold they prefer, but look to other gardeners in your area for guidance on which varieties perform best there.
Hope to see some glorious spring bulb pics next year from you!
Good luck,
Neal
