The national weather service has issued a new set of growing season dates due to "ABNORMALLY WARM TEMPERATURES HAVE RESULTED IN BUD DEVELOPMENT ON FRUIT TREES BEING A WEEK TO TWO WEEKS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE IN SOME AREAS."
You can find this statement on the National Weather site and also through accuweather.com.
I thinks I'll plant my veges this weekend.
Abnormal Spring
Yeah, I know, but I could always cover them, right?
I'm still waiting, though I have seen trees and shrubs early.
Way too much!
I think the soil could be warm enough as our nights have been above 40. I also read a tip about watering the spot with warm water and putting clear plastic over that to warm the soil. We have really has abnormally warm weather this spring. My vegetable garden isn't all that big.
I've seen 4 footers for 150. ☺
I just checked the weather forecast and I changed my mind. I'll wait a couple of weeks for the tomatoes. I just got a little excited I guess.
not to mention running in and out covering and uncovering plants.
I planted containers first week of May once. Never again. Even though you get early plants past 30's at night, the cold slows growth and your crop comes in at the usualtime.
I wanted tomatoes in August, didn't happen.
I've got most of my containers already planted with geraniums and petunias and canna lilies. I figure on cold nights I can drag them into the garage or onto the veranda. :-)
sounds like a plan. I have duffaculty moving heavy stuff so I guess we do what works for us.
I had extra...............sooooooooooooooo I planted two tomatoes. Strictly a gamble. Might be safe after the next full moon.
