Started hyssop from seed but not growing at all!

Manning, SC(Zone 8a)

I want to try growing hyssop this year, so I started a bunch of seeds in peat pots, indoors, back in February. They popped up right away, tiny little seedlings, and have their first set of tiny little leaves, but they've not done any growing otherwise! They're way too small to transplant in the garden, I don't know what to do with them! Should they be staying this size for so long? Anybody else with hyssop seed experience? One variety is Golden Jubilee, the other is Lavender Hyssop.

Wish I could actually help, just wanted to say I started anise hyssop in peat pots and one of them did all right. I think if you let them dry out even once it kills them. :(

Good luck; maybe someone else can help.

What kind of soil did you plant them in? They need food to be able to grow! Use the kind of potting compost that is used for patio plants or hanging baskets.....

Maybe you just sow again in the right kind of compost. They germinate quite fast and will then romp away. May be easier than transplanting these small ones!

I used a seed starter mix. Everything else did well in it but not these wispy little guys. You're right, I think I will start some seed directly in the garden, and see if I get better and stronger looking seedlings. Thanks folks!

If you want to grow hyssop, make sure you have the correct genus. Anise hyssop is Agastache, true hyssop is Hyssopus. Both are available from Johnny Seeds. Both require bottom heat at 70-75 degrees, and strong sunlight to grow properly. We start both the middle of March for sales in May as starter plants.---Green Acres Herb Farm, Lowpoint IL

Wow, thanks Caroline, I did not know that! What I have is the agastache. I've started seeds out my herb garden, which is very sunny, but nothing happens soon, I will look for a plant at the nursery.
