Went out in the garden today and did a bunch of pix. 20 of the best are collated into a new slideshow on Photobucket.
A couple of notes:
- the osteospermum is a new one with very intriguing bloom color. The petals when new, are edged with a golden tan. But as they mature, they fade to a dusky mauve tone instead. Unusual and pretty!
- the two Japanese maples are scheduled to go into the ground (at last!) in another month. The 'Aureum', or Full Moon Maple, was a steal at $80 a few years ago (they are VERY slow growers and hence quite expensive). The 'Emperor 1' beauty is to replace an identical tree which died in a rare February freeze in early 2007.
- some of the roses have been in full bloom for a month (Margaret Merrill, Double Delight, Intrigue) but 'Delany Sisters' is a bit behind. The plant is fully leafed out, however, and there's a ton of buds, so I took a photo of it anyway for inclusion. It should be spectacular in a few weeks.

Love all the color and the nasturtiums are so fun!
Thanks for the d-mail.. :)
jkmom51, what a gorgeous jungle/cottage garden you have. You should be so proud. I too love visiting your area, my sis is in Berkeley. And I love all you use all your space for flowers. I was looking at the Annie's Annuals website earlier and I see wonderful beautiful things which we can't do up here that you have. Just stunning.
JK. Bet your yard is the envy of the neighborhood. So beautiful. I can enjoy a garden like that all day long.
I have a red japanese maple and the leaves are so beautiful in the fall. You could make you a wonderful salad with all the Nasturtiums you have. :)
Where could I find some of those osteospermum seeds that you have?
LiliMerci, my osteos are all from container plants. They seem to reseed themselves around promiscuously, LOL! You might try Googling to see if you can find someone selling seeds.
My area is under quarantine due to the light brown apple moth; no plants allowed out of the county unless they're nursery licensed.
