Mary, Patricia's referring to the NW 2008 Calendar Events thread where we're not supposed to chat, but list only our events for the calendar.

So, Patricia, you were saying that you'd like to go to Hostajim's to visit sometime. It looks like it might be on your way to Dragonfly on Sunday morning . . . .

Katie59, It is on my way but time wise I don't want to be away from home that long and I don't get started early easily anymore after being retired for 20 years. We are in Port Orchard a lot, my DH was born and raised there, so maybe I can do it another time.

Tils,
I would love some of your Centaurea montana starts to add to the blue and yellow area of the new flower bed :0)

I spent a good part of the day working in the yard, mulching with compost and planting plants that Gordon brought from the Newcastle Swap for me. Thank you all very much, I got a most amazing pot of hostas, and a Gasteria and Harworthia from the swap.

Gordon also did his usual "check these out, Rob, Greek Artichoke tubers, want a couple?" Ok, 3 were gotten. "Oh, and heres a yucca I dug just for you" there goes my desert plants look stupid on the wet side rant. And here's some Datura, and here's a helleborus I dug for you, too.

So in the morning I compost mulched the front part sun garden, and roses, and bare patch that needed seeding from the tree that fell 2 winters ago. Seeded the lawn, then made trade cuttings of the stuff that needed to go out. Packed it all up to realize that I was mixing up two trades into one, and forgetting about the other. Argh! Back to the drawing board.

My MIL wants me to go to Sky with her as she loves my perennial garden and wants the same in her pots, 12" pots that sit facing south. So we go shopping, and find her a good group of plants to pot up for a first attempt, and we talk about moving the pots to an eastern exposure when they go on vacation or when it gets HOT. While we are shopping, I find Echinacea 'Magnus' which I have been looking for, so I got six for the new garden.

I get home to discover this package of trade plants in the mail: cannas, and suprise lilies. and some others.

So I gotta get planting. I plant the Magnus, and the cannas, then decide to move the one Echinacea 'Razzmatazz' with the Magnuses.

The Kniphofia pfitzeri is right by the Razzmatazz, and looking quite plump. So I decide to divide it. In prime wizardy, I check out the plant and the pups and decide to go 4 ways, stick the spade in the middle and cleave the main plant in half. Then I realize that there is still a ton of plants in each quarter, so I divide them into groups of 2 to 4 plants each, and have about 15 plants to plant.

I start planting. The plants take most of the open area I had around. Including a good portion of my so called "Purple Garden" where I just planted the Echinacea. But that's not what I wanted! Argh.

So I hung up the spade, and called it a day. Personally I don't care if half for the Kniphofia divisions don't take. I have way too many.

And I still need to straighten out the trades.

This is way over the top, and I still don't have a job!

If anyone has anything "extra" they want to get rid of, I will take it for my plant sale. And I love blue flowers.

Update on my furbies! Amber and Mindy and the cat are getting along very well. They all three get together and smell noses. Shadow got right in between the two dogs at breakfast and decided to eat a little of Amber's food.
The dogs are beginning to race and play and chew bones and play with toys and act like they live here and know they will stay. They are so cute they hurt your heart.

WW, that is so wonderful . . . and I completely understand your expression "so cute they hurt your heart!"

Can't wait to meet them, then you can really show the pups off to all.

I thought this was to cute Ester is sleeping in Tylers bed. Her bed had somehow got pushed under the chair, and she couldnt get to it.
