Anyone know muhly grass?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a ditch (as you probably know since I complain about it ALL the time!) and am thinking of planting muhly grass along the street edge of it. One, it would be pretty. Two, it would control erosion. Three, I wouldn't have to even try to mow it. However, it would get full sun ALL DAY LONG, and y'all know what that's like. Temps and humidity are both generally in the 90s all summer (which I think began yesterday at my house...) and I wonder if anyone could advise me? Will this stuff withstand it and take over on a slope? I'd say the slope I want to cover is about 6' wide, and more or less a 30 degree slope, and maybe 100' long, from my back neighbor's house to the corner. I'd kind of like to put it on both sides of the ditch if it wouldn't interfere with drainage. There's either dichondra or dollar weed growing at the bottom of the ditch which mows just fine.

OR if anyone has any other suggestions, believe me I'm willing to listen! I've thought about Asian jasmine but that's so invasive and frankly I don't much like it. I've put a few ditch lilies on the house side of the ditch but they're having a fairly hard time so far -- most likely because of what the #^@&(%g builders did to the soil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is one of those things I'd like to do ONCE!

Thanks in advance!

I have pink muhly grass in sun all day long. It does just fine.

Either Gulf Coast Muhly or Lindheimer's Muhly should be okay. But you might have to water them until established if nature doesn't provide enough rain in your area.

It can be feast or famine for rain down here. I'm thinking Gulf Coast muhly, as I'm probably 40 miles from the gulf as the crow flies, maybe 50. I have a hose that will reach them, so that's not a problem.

Thanks for the input! Now, if I can just find it for less than $9 per 3" pot...! Think I'll put it on the plant trading forum!
