Know my enemy!!! ID please?

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Every spring, I get nailed with an allergy. It is ferocious. I hate to take meds as they knock my socks off and I still have to work. As a result, I am sneezing, coughing, aching, sinus headaches, using any available paper goods to blow my nose.... Waiting for it to end. This usually lasts 3 weeks.

I know the culprit and I know I just have to live with it. Around here they are call "hedge bushes". At a distance, they are pretty. They are all over and my head tells me when they start to bloom. Too many to eradicate although I don't have any growing around the house. Also, they serve a purpose. The bees love them!

Can anyone give my enemy a name?

Looks like one of the Ligustrum Privets. Perhaps this one?

They are invasive in Texas.

I agree with Sheila I think it is Ligustrum.

I believe you are both correct ~ Ligustrum it is. I am not sure which one but I suspect the first link. Thanks for the links Sheila.

I was intending to post a warning about allergic reactions to it and see that it is already marked as such. I don't think I've seen another PlantFiles plant with so many negatives...

It had definitely "invaded" east Texas. Been here far more years than I have and will be here long after I am gone...

Thank you both for the ID assistance! pod
