Hello All.
I recently picked up a healthy 6" tall Colocasia gigantea seedling off of eBay. I immediately potted it up and placed it under grow lights in a warm and humid room and kept it damp. Within a week it put out two new leaves. I was thrilled at the idea of enjoying those huge leaves in my garden for years to come.
Three days ago, all of the leaves suddenly withered and died. Now there is barely any green to the stem. Any thoughts on what I did wrong? Any chance of saving it at this point? I really would like to give this plant a try (my Colocasia esculentas got HUGE last year), but can't imagine what I could have done differently. I'll take any advice I can get, as I am tempted to order another one.
Thank you.
Erick
Colocasia gigantea advice please....
Erick, How big a pot did you repot it in? Was it a COLO. Gigantea " THAILAND " Giant Strain ? Jerry
Jerry,
I started it out in a 6" pot with an all-purpose mix. Because it started putting out leaves almost immediately in my bright, warm grow-room, all seemed well. It may have dried out a bit between waterings, but certainly not severly with all my pampering. I believe my plant is the "regular" C. giantea, not the "Thailand" strain.

Do you have a picture of the ailing plant?
