My Peruvian Daffodil in Bloom

Pembroke Pines, FL(Zone 10a)

This morning around 11AM I noticed a flower bud on my Peruvian Daffodil and as this is the first time for me I was anxious to see the flower but I fiured it wouldn't bloom till tomorrow. I was gone for five hours and when I came back this is what I found!

Wow ... who knew a daffodil could look so exotic? That's beautiful!

Thank you! I have a few more Peruvians getting ready to bloom. Also have gardenia, gladiola, canna, calla, roses, jasmine, brugmansia, datura, begonia, along with figs, papaya, oranges, persimmons, melons, peppers and more and of course when in season, tomatos! I like to keep busy... Pictured my Dwarf Calla lilies.

It's not really a daffodil, that's why it can look exotic! It's got the common name daffodil but it's in genus Hymenocallis.

Is it the same as a Peruvian (sp?) Daffodil?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Yes, Hymenocallis is the same as Peruvian daffodil, same plant that's pictured here. I was just commenting on Twonewfs comment about not knowing daffodils could look so exotic. (Hymenocallis and the regular old daffodils are in the same family but not the same genus)

Tplant, yours look so much cooler than mine! Is it pretty much one bloom per bulb? Mine lasted only 3 days. Please tell me there's more to it. I only have two bulbs!

I seem to have a second flower growing from the same bulb? As this is a first for me also we will have to wait and see...

My melon garden. I grow everything including my trees in containers. I am partially disabled and it is easier for me to work with containers. This picture is about two weeks old and my melons are a lot bigger now...

Forgot to note my grandson and assistant gardner Alexander jumping over the vines.

t plant, just beautiful, I hope grandson helps a lot, when kids are little, they love garneding, then they grow, like my girls, 14 and 16, and now they think I am a freak! Regards to all, clemen

One of my roses in bloom. Don't know its name yet as it was mislabeled. By the way, the Peruvian Daffodil did bloom a second flower and one of the other peruvians bloomed two at the same time on the same bulb. Wanted to take pictures but heavy winds today spoiled the flowers appearance.

A dahlia in bloom. Have several mixed varieties that I purchased from Lowes in a mixed batch so I'll see what they look like when they start to bloom. Again, all my plants are in containers.
