Iceland, Greenland & Norway

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I've posted this on the Vacation forum, but I always get more good answers to everything on the Texas forum, sooo.... Have any of you been to Iceland, Greenland or Norway? I've heard there is a large botanical garden in, I think, Oslo. If anyone's been to any of these places, let me know if there's anything I shouldn't miss seeing or if you have any suggestions on things of interest. Thanks very much for any info.

Been to Norway twice and the beauty of that country is something we'll never forget. The Viking Ship Museum was of particular interest to us in Oslo. The Gustav-Vigeland sculpure park in Oslo was good. We were only in Oslo for a day and a half. Saw lots of rasberrry bushes growing wild along the roadside. They were tasty too. Relatives of my DH had rasberries and strawberries growing on their farm as if in the Garden of Eden. You're in for a treat.

Lived in Norway for a year 2000-2001 - in Stavanger. BEAUTIFUL gardens in the fiord off the coast of Stavanger on an island - named Flor og Fjaere - just a 20 minute boat ride from Stavanger. Is just breathe taking - great food too at the restaurant there overlooking the gardens and sea. The Gardens in Oslo are nice as well, but different than Flor og Fjaere. Oslo's garden is very large with wonderful (famous) stone sculpture. Is a great walk around on a nice day.
It is also worth a trip to Bergen to take the Flam railroad and Fiord trip - just incredible scenery - sent all my visitors on that trip - you can easily get there from Stavanger on the Hydrofoil (fast boat).
Can't comment on Iceland or Greenland.
Have fun -

Thanks for the input. I'll make it a point to check out some of those. The railroad trip sounds really nice, so I'll try to make that and the sculpture garden. I appreciate the advice.

Sounds like a fabulous trip! It is now going on my official "need to go there" list. You've given me many ideas for future vacations, now, Crowelli!!

There's a very sweet Icelandic lady named Rannveig who frequents the Weather forum. I'm sure she'd be thrilled to give you recommendations of places to see. I wish I could go with you! Her photos are gorgeous. ^_^
