Banana Plantin' Time ??

Louisville, KY

Hey Brian, or people in around Ky.....it is usually a rule of thumb to plant outside a week after Derby. I am tempted to go on and get the bananas in the ground because they don't leaf out for a few weeks anyway. I have had them in the cellar all winter...

Do you all think I should hold out and wait a few more weeks? The lows are in the 50's and the daytime highs are in the 70's. It might dip down in the 40's again, but I really doubt it. I am itchin to start doing something outside now!

happy gardening and morel hunting!
Thanks

I'm not from KY, but if you are past the last freeze, I would think it would be OK!

We are much further south than you, so ours stay in the ground all year....The only thing that really hurts them is a freeze......so as long as you don't have a freeze I would think it would be OK. We have had some nights in the 40's here.
