I live just North of San Diego. I have five 60 oz feeders that I usually have to fill weekly. 40-50 birds at sunset vieing for the nectar wouldn't be out of the ordinary. For the past month or so my birds have mostly disappeared. I know it's the breeding season but I don't ever remember them being this scarce before. Does anyone have an answer? I thank you in advance.
Hummingbirds have gone MIA
Mmmm... I don't have an answer either other than it's the breeding season and they may have gone into the woods or wherever yours go to breed-
But you surely have a lot of birds missing if you get 40 or 50 birds at a time! That must be a record.
Would love to see some pics when they come back!
That's really interesting! Did you have forests damaged from fires or any other situations since last year? Construction that destroyed wooded areas? Drought? Are you seeing any hummers at all now?
I live not far from you acrisman and I haven't seen any of my hummingbird friends either. I have two 32oz. feeders and I usually get 2-3 birds an hour. No-more though. Maybe thefires we had last year doeshave something to do with it. I hope my friends come back though, I loved watching them from my bedroom :o)
