This Grackle flew over near me and was searching for Anoles.

"Got you!" This one had strayed too far from the safety of the shrubbery.

Yes. Very interesting food chain demo. Didn't know grackles were carnivorous. Thanks.

I saw a grackle flying off with a garter snake last year!! Like I don't have enough trouble keeping them in the yard with all the 12 year old boys in my neighborhood!

I have the same problem with toads in my window wells, Mrs. Ed.!!! Youch!

I like the Anoles, and if I had time I would have scared the bird off, but once he got hold of it I knew it best to let it go, since it probably would have been injured. I remember watching that Anole cross over from the bushes when he normally stayed to a more open bed and thinking he was taking a big chance. No where to hide.

Great behavioral shots GP! Those Grackles are so colorful! I don't think I've ever seen them eat anything like an Anole, which we don't have here.

Thanks Rose. This was the second time in as many weeks as I got a pic of a Grackle with an Anole. They must really like them as a food source.
