Anyone know this e-Bay seller?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

This pink double looks fantastic. Anyone know anything about his/her reputation and reliability?

They have 3 positive feedback from other Brug buyers. Overall thier feedback is good, but not much of it is recent, and since it is old, you can't tell what type of item they were buying or selling. Maybe contact one of the buyers and ask them how their experience was.

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

Bettydee, that's the only brug they are selling. How long has that been on e-bay? They already have 3 feed backs. From April 17, 18, and the 19th. That has to be super fast shipping!!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

My main worry about buying from someone I have not bought from before is
whether I would be getting the cultivar I purchased.

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

Is it registered?

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

One other thing.I don't believe this one has been available long enough to have passed the required 2 year quarantine period here.I will keep my hand on my wallet.
edited to add...I just noticed they have 20 available....yeah right.

Was this brug imported?

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

The brug seems to be a litle bit too expensive, i am crazy about brugs too, but to pay $30 plus 10 shipping, I'll rather get it at the nursery. They are too overpriced! i think ,but if you really want it, I know what is it to feel like that! I bought two daturas from e bay, double purple and double yelow, (4) with shipping and all less than $35. You know Daturas look up to the sky, brugs look down. Clemen

This thread is just too funny.

Hammond, LA(Zone 8b)

Why is it funny?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I've looked up Bergkonigin. The date 10/23/0/04 is listed. That could be the date it was registered. I also noticed the number he has for sale. That's what set off warning bells.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I have this brug, and bought it over a year ago from a well known selling here in the U.S. that was a BGI and a Dave's member, so it is definitely in the U.S.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

It's not hard to get 20 cuttings to root from one plant.. they look like they have been rooted well and are healthy.
That brug is available but not worth $30. bucks + shipping in my opinion.
Before I "test run" an ebay seller, I buy something really cheap! LOL

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Considering we were paying $200-$300 for double pinks a couple years ago, 30 bucks looks darn cheap. I've already got some nice double pinks with blood lines that are known, (rather than unknown as this one is listed) so I'll pass on this one. My husband will be so pleased to hear me say that, since I've run out of room to put them. He probably feared that I'd never get over my acquisition mode. LOL Even I feared that I wouldn't know when to stop. Darn plants are so addicting!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

mpabbott1, you are so correct about becoming addicted to new brugs., and wanting more as they come along. However, I've only been tempted to buy once this spring, and really do not see anything different being shown in presented seedlings. I feel I have the right brug. stock to produce nice seedlings should I want to spend the time doing so, and that is a relief! Lol. I tend to be a want it all gardener...Also, if I did not have Bergkonigin, which I purchased last year, I would buy it.

I just purchased this plant. What I received was a very healthy well rooted plant. Is it what they say?? Who knows, once they have started being passed around you could loose what you got from who. I think it is all about trust and the right thing.

Am I too naive???

Dee

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Dee, it might be a good idea to keep a log of what Brugs were purchased from whom. I know I should have done so. I definitely learned my lessons when purchasing through e-bay. Most of my purchases were fine, although some plants were way too small for their price. If I had kept a log of purchases, I would have been able to ID the seller(s) who sold me bogus named Brugs.

I've been very tempted to several double/triple non-pink Brugs lately, but what keeps me from buying right now is the fact that I went way over budget on a heifer corral I having built.

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

Gordon how do you do that? How much is a euro?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Linda, you need a permit to import "small lots" of seed. The permits are free and easy to get. You can apply on line from USDA. What I don't know is from whom to buy the seed. I don't read German. May Gordon, can provide more information.

Very impressive, Gordon! Now, where do you grow out all of these seedlings?

Tussee

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

Gordon, and here I thought you were going to tell us all about intrigue and...espionage
and meetings in dark alleys with your collar pulled up high and your cap pulled down low!!

A euro is about $3.16 and double dark Rosetta x yellow Aurea is listed.

Edit to say: seeds are gone now. Someone popped in there and bought them.

I 'm with everybody else. I've only bought from 3 folks on ebay and all of them are members here. Know who your buying from or just sit on your money.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

One dollar is about $1.60 Euro, my family lives over ther! Clemen

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Betty, I went to web site but could not find the permit for seeds. Please tell me more.

Joan

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Joan, here's the link to the permit
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/plants/plant_imports/smalllots_seed.shtml
You can apply online after you register. Within a few days, you'll receive an email with the answer. The labels take a little longer. You will need to send a label to the seller. It's a little time consuming, but it's better than risking getting caught trying to import seeds without that permit. The fines can be hefty and you lose the seed.

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

thank you , Teresa, now if I can get a permit I will have it made. How do I tell what the exchange is?

Joan

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Betty, wish me luck I am not real smart on the computer.

Joan

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Joan, just plug in the Euro in the convert dialog box. Leave the into dialog box as is. Input the Euro amount into the third dialog box and press the calculate button.
