I have a fire ant problem, but I also have 3 dogs. I don't want to hurt them. Any advice?

Use a bait product with Spinosad in it ("Safer" brand, I think) - it is very low in toxicity. Orange oil is good too. Lots of people have luck with pouring boiling water directly on mounds, but that'll kill the grass too.
