Hi,
We all agree that electricity and water don't mix, LOL . That said I hope you understand how nervous this is making me. My new small pond is about 15 ft from the house, yesterday i tested my pumps inside it with an extension cord, everything ran fine. Now of course we need to set up a dedicated line for the pump and a regular water fountain we bought. So do we need to bury this power line? I keep thinking of rain and the kids. How did you set up your power line to your backyard and eventually your pond?
Any comments, advise or two cents are much much appreciated!! :~)
Thanks

Best way to set up electricity for a pond?
Soris, there is a fourm for electrical and lighting here on DG maybe it would be better
to post this question there.
I had GFI outlets put in by an electrician. They are on the outside of the garage. My pump has a 15ft cord, so I'm ok, I hope.

I just bury an outside extension cord and hook it to one of those outside (green plastic with stake) electrical outlets. I had mine in Louisiana like that for 15 years and for almost 3 years here in TN.

Thank you!
I will go to the forum and consider your option too tortoise.
For my large pond I had electric run out to it from the main circuit breaker and it is mounted on a 2.5 ft post.
In the front yard I have a small fountain. I took and extension cord and put it through white PVC pipe and then buried the PVC Pipe under the dirt. The extension cord comes out from the garage. Then I used the black electric tape to keep water out of the connection to the fountain. Hope this helps.
Thanks Cristalnurse, today we figured out a way to set everything up. The power will come from the basement to an outdoor power unit, from which the pumps will run. We placed it about 3 feet from the pond and drilled it about 2 foot high into the wooded fence. In case of splashes.
This is when were testing the pumps.
We still need to cover the edges of the liner and put some plants, maybe hostas. From now on everything will happen slowly.
