Hi!
Been working lots of overtime, and since spring is here, having to water more often, and going to try to move some plants out of the greenhouses and plant some in the ground, and if that ain't enough,Patti decided to do a house make over, new paint curtains, carpet, and furniture, people been coming in doing the work, and then having to go shopping with her to agree on what she picked out, such as the furniture, carpet, curtains, don't know why she wants my opinion, when she always goes with her picks!!!!LOL
I always take a little time to check my computer, even if its right before bed time!!!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Glad to hear from you! Was wondering what happened to you! Hope your back is doing OK!

Beautiful weather here! Not too hot, cool breeze! Gorgeous weather! Daylilies, hibiscus are starting to bloom! Very nice!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Bad cold, and still working lots of overtime, spend every free moment I can outside lots do to
with no time do to it in!
Did take the time to buy me another parrot!!!
Vinne, male, hans macaw ,about half the size of a regular macaw.
Back has been better than usually, just hips hurting lately, dawng tree seedlings spring up everywhere, and haven't had time to pull them up,how about you all, having tree seedlings popping up???
Irises getting ready to bloom any minute now!!!!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes....we have china berry trees and a pine tree; so there are volunteers everywhere!

Hope you get to feeling better! Take care of yourself!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Hi Jeanne,
Do your tree saplings pull out of the ground easy???
Some here are then there is others, need to get the chain and truck to get them out of the ground!!!!Lol
Well nose is getting tender from all the blowing,I thought this time I wouldn't take anything for my cold, and see if I can get over it sooner, yes I can take something to dry my nose up,but it seems the cold last longer, and if I just let it run and blow,I can get it out of my system sooner!!!

We need to get together and form a market for tree seedlings. Somebody could get rich. I have pecan and oaks everywhere. Sometimes think weeds would be easier. The pecans are impossible. Just break off at the top of the ground but that seems enough to stop them. I thought I would be safe with the raised veggie garden and no trees directly over it. HA! The squirrels love the soft dirt and just dig away planting----you guessed it----pecans and oaks.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

I know I can't wait to see more pictures of your garden! Hope you get well soon!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Christi,those squirrels love soft dirt!!!!
Heck they plant them in my grass here as well, some are really lazy!!!LOL
Well 37* this morning.so I'm off to see what damage has occurred!

Well when things start to take off,the pics will be coming!

I am probably making a big mistake. Have started really collecting the tropicals. They don't do all that well here either without lots of help. Shall I blame you, Don.
Actually RJ came a couple of weeks ago and brought a truck load of wonderful things. I have planted them in the ground for now but know that by fall I will be potting and moving just like you are. I got a really small greenhouse kit from Costco this spring. 8x6. It won't hold what I already have much less get more. Will just have to hoop my entire yard I guess. Rita and bigleaves live within 5 miles of my house and that is what they do. Never take it out of the ground, just build a hoop over it.

It has been in the 40's the last two morning. Daytime low 70's which is great for me but the tropicals aren't too happy about it.

Dallas is the real in between zone!!!
Very tempting on growing some of the real tropical plants, even tho where one zone a part, big differences in temperatures in my opinion!
Thats why I have to give so many plants away every year!
3 greenhouses and a sunroom, will hold around 500 potted plants, but like this year my queen palm is already over 12 ft ,and my greenhouse is only 11 ft tall, and by summers end,she will be reaching 15 ft or more!
So it looks like I will be calling the zoo again, and adding to there rainforest exhibit.

Bet the zoo loves you. Take it off your taxes. It is a charitable gift.

RJ lives in Houston, as you know, and there is a terrific difference in his zone and mine. I have had the privilege of visiting his garden and it would just make you cry. We have cleaned out our sunroom and repainted and pared down these past two weeks. Mike doesn't know it yet but I have an ulterior motive coming around October. He loves it wide open and empty. 13 windows looking out back and it is beautiful today. No wind even.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL! Christi....I see where you are going......great idea!!!!!!! It will be beautiful with all of those plants in there!

Don, our baby tree seedlings just pull right up....unless one get's to where I can't see it for awhile. Usually they manage to land in a pot, so they're not stuck in the ground!!!

I've thought about "hooping" the whole yard.......Sounds like a great idea to me!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

LOL! Christi,poor Mike!!!!!LOL

Jeanne, hooping the whole yard sounds great,if I had stock in Weststar energy!!!!LOL

I planted at least 100 plants today and yesterday, one greenhouse half empty,3 more greenhouses to go,LOL no land left to plant them in!!!!LOL

Little oriental gal that I give away plants to,came by today and gave me some Mountain Rice to plant, but she said be sure to plant it on May 14th only!!!
Have no idea why, hard for me to understand her,but she took a large grocery sack full of Bamboo shoots, said she was going to cook me some, she explained to me she had to peel
away everything to get just to the white part, whole sack only make one small bowl!!!!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Does the rice plant actually produce? Hope you are feeling better today. Hand fixin's, hot toddy? Might be time you owned a local KFC and retired. hahahaha

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Would you believe stayed in bed until 11am!!!LOL
Zicam liquid good stuff, feel better, not coughing or sneezing as much.
Took it easy today, will rest also tomorrow as I'm off, taking Patti down for a Brain MRI.

Yes,Christi this is the rice she brought back from her visit home,in the mountains of Laos.
It grows just in the soil, not like a rice paddy field.

I could see myself getting fat eating KFC!!!!LOL

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

With the price of rice soaring world wide, you might think about raising it for profit.
Dear me. Hope nothing wrong with Patti.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

This lady has 16 acres she's planting,I'm just got a few seeds to plant in a 40 gallon container.

Same here.doing this to check if anything is wrong, her memory is terrible, first stage of Alhymiers.
Well were off to the Clinic!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Will be praying for both of you.
