Have you ever had a Giant Monarch Caterpillar

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I'd post a picture but you really wouldn't be able to see the size versus a normal size cat from a picture. I have this one caterpillar that is about 5 days late going into chrysalis and he is double the size of a normal monarch caterpillar. He is about the size (length) of a very healthy milkweed leaf. In fact, he may be a little longer. He's really fat too. Finally, this evening, he has crawled up to the top of the cage to J. I wonder how big he'll be as a butterfly!

I've never had one that big...too bad about the pic! I can't wait to see him emerge, he'll be bat size!
Maybe you could get a pic of the chrysalis, it will probably be huge!

Not much yet. Lots of monarchs. I saw one ST last week and I've seen a few sulphurs. No fritillaries yet. I did see a little orange bf that I couldn't identify.

What are you seeing waaaaaayyyyyy up there in the Woodlands?

Knowing how much food a regular Monarch cat eats, I'd be afraid to try to keep a giant one fed!
