Wonderful New Plumeria Web Site

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

I just wanted to share my very dear friend's web site with everyone. Kukiat is the most knowledgeable and the most amazing gardener and friend, and his plumeria collection is breath-takingly beautiful. He has hybridized some of the most exquisitely beautiful plumeria hybrids, which are the plumerias of the future, I believe. He also grows many other beautiful and exotic tropical trees and plants, including Cassias and Magnolias among others. You can check out his web site and his photo galleries now, thanks to his hard work in making it all public: http://www.kukiatsgardens.com/index.html Congratulations on the wonderful web site, Kukiat!

And you have a flower named for you, Clare! How cool is that?

That orange sherbet colored dwarf is to die for. I think it's the most beautiful thing I've seen yet. I want it, I want it!! waaaaahhhh!

Thanks for posting and congratulations on that beautiful bloom named for you!

Thanks Kathleen and Hettty for the kind words:-) I am super honored to have such a magnificent flower named after me.

Hetty, congratulations also on having such a beautiful flower named after you!

Kathleen, I agree with you about that orange dwarf. It's positively stunning!

I had to go back and look at it again today. What is it that makes such a simple flower so enchanting? I mean, I love plumeria in general and some more than most, but that one just made me gasp. I guess we all have little triggers for certain colors, shapes, combinations? It's quite a good photograph, too, and the lighting is perfect to show off the color.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL, Kathleen. I know exactly what you mean. I think we all have those triggers and things that make us stop and take notice. I am constantly gasping at Kukiat's seedlings. He is kind enough to send me pictures on a regular basis of new seedlings that bloom in his garden, and I am consistantly blown away by them. He has some new dwarves with fantastic flowers that he is waiting to see if they will stay dwarf under varying conditions over the years, and these will be a big hit, I'm sure. The orange dwarf of his is one of the best dwarves that I've seen.

Kathleen, here's a picture I found of Kukiat's Dwarf Orange vs. a Dwarf Singapore Pink bloom for comparison.

Yes, and the Dwarf Singapore White and the Dwarf Gem...yum! Wouldn't that be a lovely collection? I think I'm going to start saving my pennies. :-)

I actually had 'Dwarf Gem' and sold it. Here is a picture of it: http://www.botanictreasures.com/PlumeriaPics-4/DwarfGem.jpg I didn't keep it because I wasn't impressed with it, but it is possible that mine wasn't the real thing. I think the fragrance was fairly mild.

wow! plumeria growing around all that water.

I'm always a day late and a dollar short! If I had my d'ruthers, it would be for the Dwarf Singapore White, but the Gem has nice color and shape, too. Stuck my nose in the California Sunset today and the scent is getting a little 'bigger' - I think I notice some citrus in there.

Clare, congratulation on having a plumeria named after you. It is beautiful. I've also had a chance to look at your friend's website and the plants (especially the Plumerias) are amazing. I think I'm going to have to make a stop in Thailand the next time I travel to Vietnam.

Wow Clare That is Kick A**. That is beautiful flower! Congratulations.

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

that purple is beautiful.... i couldn't look at all the pictures, because i would be incredibly jealous, go on an uncontrolled plumie shopping spree, and wet my pants (because they're so pretty, i wouldn't know what to do)..... but thanks for the site anyway

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL! You guys crack me up! Thanks for the congratulations:-) Kukiat's seedlings are some of the most beautiful flowers that I've seen, and I am thrilled to have one named after me.

Do you have one, Clare?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

I do!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Good - I had this horrible thought you just had a picture of a beautiful flower that bears your name! lol That would be frustrating.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

LOL! Kukiat is as generous as he is kind so that wouldn't happen;-)

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Not casting aspersions - I thought perhaps it was still one of a kind!

St Joseph, IL(Zone 5b)

Absolutely beautiful pictures in Kukiat's gardens. Amazing is all I can say. Amazing.
Thanks for the link.

No problem, Kathleen;-) It is definitely one of a kind! Kukiat and I are the only ones that have it, and it probably won't be made public for a while.

I agree, Laura!

Kilgore, TX(Zone 8a)

HI everyone. New to gardening & especially Plumerias. Just received shipment from the Plumeria Gallery. I think I got the 2 for 1 after all, plus an extra (coleus?) plant & some seeds. But I need help asap! I need to get these in soil & pots. Is MG potting soil ok? And how big should the pot be in contrast to the plant? Thanks ahead of time! Michelle

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Michelle, check out the sticky thread at the top of the forum on how to pot up cuttings and seeds. There is a wealth of information there. MiracleGro is okay, but it does tend to hold more water than other mixes so some people add Perlite to it to make it more well-draining. Most cuttings are rooted in one-gallon black plastic nursery pots because they have lots of drainage holes.

Kilgore, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Clare. I appreciate it the advice. I'll add Perlite & I probably would have went too big on pot, so thank you so much! (I have a lot of them that I saved from ones I bought!) Michelle

Congratulations Clare.. and thanks for posting the link to such lovely blooms!
