Hi,Ya'll. Its time for me to confess, come out of the closet, bare my soul. Now ya'll of a sensitive natture or youth please quickly press the back button. (HUGE sigh, working up my courage)........You have been warned!!! I am a cactus lover!!!. There I said it!! I know your shocked... I have been to many Dr.s, .tried the cactus patch, and hypnosis. Nothing has worked. If it has thorns or is oddly shaped I like it. My friends have given me roses and such thinking it would help. Nope, all though I liked the thorns its just not the same.
I have joined DGs to find those like myself. Who have been disowned and kicked out because of this addiction.
Confession is good for the soul. New from Lubbock, Texas.

hayu, Hi and Welcome !! Cacti are awesome ! The unique shapes and the beautiful flowers, I think you are a person of good taste!
hello from upstate new york. you will fit in just perfect here.
Welcome to the best site on the web.
Worked off and on for over 14 years in Lubbock - still have friends there.
Fun, clean city - even if you did have to take a drive to the "county line" for adult beverages.
Hello hayu. My goodness, why would you ever want to recover from the lovely affliction of cacti-mania? Just toss out those cactus patches, and trot right into the Cactus and Succulent forum.
We like to call it a passion, not an addiction, LOL! (That way it sounds like we still have some degree of self-control.) Wecome to DG.

Hi nice to meet you.. Welcome
I'm new here as well and confess I have an unusually strong attraction to succulents and cacti . . .
I got hooked at the Philadelphia Flower Show three years ago when I walked into the Philadelphia Cacti and Succulent Society's display booth. I picked up their little paper booklet on how to care for succulents, read it on the train home, and within one year had a four-tiered shelf of jades and aloes. I don't have a true cactus in the family yet, but I'm secretly yearning for a Crown of Thorns to add to the colony. I have to keep them in a sunny back room with the door shut so the cats don't bother them, which creates the habit of slipping into a back room alone to spend time with plants that look like Shrek-ears.
I grew up in Lubbock, went to college there, and then moved to where trees want to grow on their own! DH is a fan of stickery things in the garden, so we have a variety of cacti and other more dangerous plants in the xeriscape bed. I wear a face guard when weeding in that area to avoid poking out my eyes on the spines of the big agaves and sotol. Welcome to Dave's Garden!
