My baby Brug(pink suaveolens) is about 6 weeks - 2 months old but has only made 2 small leaves....It's growing in a 3inch pot with MG potting soil and has been fertilized once with dilute house plant food. It was receiving so-so indirect light from a south west window, but due to the fact that I'm moving to a new house it's now in a full south window. It's about a foot back from the window receiving light almost all day. I've read alot of the posts here in the past and everybody's seedlings seem to grow like mad, but mines doing next to nothing...what am I doing wrong? How often should I water? Please Help :)

Seedling Help!
More sun. I have two seedlings that sprouted within a few days of each other one is inside receiving light from a flourescent light and sky lights and the other is outside on the patio receiving direct sun for several hours a day.. the one outside is twice the size of the one inside.
Tammie
Steven, I agree with Tammie about it needing more light, but it needs more fertilizer as well. I would feed it quarter strength fertilizer every time I watered. Remember growth also slows down in winter and or cold weather. The seedling might be better off under fluorescent lights for 16 hours. The lights placed between 1" - 2" directly under the bulbs.
Is it warm enough to place the seedling in direct sunlight for a few hours a day? Use your fingertips to check the soil. If the soil is barely moist, water. Seedling roots are easily damaged by either too wet or too dry conditions. Don't let the soil dry out.
Thanks Tammie and Betty! I'll be sure to fertilize more often and as soon as I can I'll move it outside. Probably won't be for about another month, but I'll do my best until then! It's supposed to go up to about 64F this weekend, would that be warm enought to put it outside for a few hours?
Thanks,
Steven
Yes! Give it some fresh air. Even the 50s are OK.
Thanks again :)
And when should I pot up? It's in a 3" now and has two small leaves.
Steven
You can pot it up in a gallon container when the 3" pot has roots coming out the drainholes or you can see the roots through the drainholes. You don't want to move it up too soon. Doing so too early increases the chances of over watering and risking root death.
Thanks Bettydee, you've been great! This is my second brug, I bought one a number of years ago, and knowing nothing about it I just plunked it into the garden where it didn't grow at all. So I really want to suceed with this one!
You're welcome. There is a wealth of information hidden in many of the old threads. When you have the time, go through them.
