I need some help with color in a zone 4 garden.

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 4b)

I keep working at getting more of a riot of color throughout the growing period. It seems here in the cold north our colors follow the season so much more than when I had a tropical garden. Early spring the bright colors of tulips. Later the colors turn more to the pinks and blues along with white. Yellows, reds and orange come along later. The lighter colors disappear as the bright ones come in. Spring pastel colors, summer hot colors.

What I want to do is add more color within each season using perennials. Yellow is the easiest. Red and orange are harder. There aren't nearly as many blues as it gets warmer.

Maybe I should just be happy with mother natures plan and get the variety in the texture and leave the color as a seasonal treat.

Any ideas or suggestions for me? There is also the fact that I am trying to only introduce natives to my garden.

Do I use garden art as the punch?
