Living in the city - I have somewhat limited access to birds more interesting. (the occasional woodpecker, or robin, but mostly sparrows, starlings, seagulls and pigeons).
But I've developed something of a fondness for the rock pigeon. It helps that we share a commute. So here's a few images I grabbed and finally got around to scanning.
I would love to hear and see others interactions with these somewhat maligned creatures.
Cheers,
Liam
A tribute to the humble Rock Pigeon
Nice!!!!!
Those are nice pics!!
Thanks all - I'm new to DG (Mrs.Ed knows me though). You all are just so friendly - I couldn't not join.
Liam (Rogue_designer) is my camera go-to man. He's awesome. I think he just got sick of me sending him all the links to BW forum pix. ;-)
LOL! Way to go Mrs Ed! Welcome Liam!
Mwahahah. Before you know it, he'll be at the lake photographing the latest migrating species.
So many people call them "rats with wings," but they do help the mourning doves clean up the seeds the other birds spill out of our bird feeders. Some of them are also surprisingly pretty, with their iridescent neck feathers. Lovely pictures!

There may be more to that than you think . . . they have been seen getting on London Underground trains to move between stations. They even do so often enough to know in advance, which side of the train they need to get off at in each particular station.
