My DH built me a minigreenhouse which we placed on our front deck(southfacing). The inside temp is 81º and the outside temp(on the northside of the house) is 43º. I can prop up the top panels to let heat out.

I would believe you can. I have a new 6X8 GH and it get over a hundred real fast in the sun. We have put on a cover, used the vent and left the door open to moderate.
