Mammillaria
Mammillaria blossfeldiana

Here is another image of same plant. Clearly radial spine count is around 21. cenrtral spines slightly curved, red brown, 1 or 2. Not a common plant.

I think the first two pictures are not Mamm dodsonii but Mamm blossfeldiana like this one in habitat.

Thanks for the comment

I agree. More than flower differences I was going off on spination/growth form and habit similarities and botanical descriptions/images (Hunt).

After seeing your comment I consulted works of both Hunt and Anderson. David Hunt's The New Cactus Lexicon, reference images a habitat plant of deherdtiana subsp deherdtiana with similar spination to your habitat image. Most spination and form considerations create confusion and uncertainties.

Since flowering in April 2008 after hand-pollination, these plants fruited with 'club-like' orangish-colored fruits over 2cm long. Not half-buried globose fruit like that described for deherdtiana by both contemperous authors . This fruiting difference trumps the spination/form inconsistencies.

This is concluded for me. Fruit and seed differ between the 2 species.

I've notified Admin of my misplacement of these images. Requested the images be moved to blossfeldiana.
