Aphids again....

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Ok guys...its that time of the year again and I just started to water the brugs a bit more and now the aphids are multiplying...How about some tips on how to get rid of them..I know its an old subject but I sure would like some different suggestions..its about 3 weeks away from being able to take them outside and hose them down..I do have the liquid Bayer for roses with the systemic in it..I hate to use chemicals now..Judy

a tablespoon of dish soap in a quart of water...thats what I was told for roses and azeleas... oh and my glads too! I hate aphids!
I was told to put the soap mixture in one of those windex bottles that has a 'stream' setting on the sprayer and squirt the ugly things til they fall off and drown .....
but check with the experts to make sure soapy water is good for brugs first :o)

If you have room, you might consider to plant a daylily at its feet. My once aphid-ridden roses are completely aphid free (for some years already) since I planted one of those!

I use joy dish liquid in water.. spray the aphids.. don't have to drown them.. just wet them.. they will die. I have used this for years on our oleanders when they get literally COVERED with the aphids.. mix it in a 2 gallon sprayer and I go to town spraying them. It may take a couple applications but it gets them. That is at my parents.. for some reason they don't notice the aphids until everything is covered. As for my yard... I keep a little quart spray bottle filled with the detergent mix and carry it when I inspect my plants.. I just spritz any aphids I find.. keeps them under control quite nicely and does not hurt the plants. The liquid coats them and suffocates them. They just turn black when they die.

We have Aphids on our Daylilies so how is planting they below Roses going to help?

Bayer Tree & Shrub 12 month liquid.. a one time soil drench will rid you of them for a year. Just too hard to spray and spray and spray..
