Flooring

Immingham, Near Grim, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

I, as many of you already know, have a dog and a cat, and I am reliably informed that underneath the carpet the floors are rough concrete. Could anyone with pets please let me have their opinions as to what I should do when the occasion arrives and the carpet is removed -

1] Paint the concrete
2] Have the floor tiled with ceramics as they do in Spain
3] Have vinyl flooring laid throughout
4] Have a wooden floor laid except for kitchen and bathroom
5] Laminate floors ditto
6] Cord carpet throughout
7] American shadow pile carpet everywhere
8] Any other suggestions

Your advice would be most appreciated... Thank you.
