Cool metal sculptures in NC

Durham, NC(Zone 7b)

My mom has asked me about a place she has seen on her way back from the NC mountains... she thinks it was called Joe's Landscaping, I have checked online and in the Garden Watchdog but have not found it. I figure we have some locals over that way that might be able to help us out. She is wondering about the metal sculptures and if they are sold there and any other info or experience you have had with them.

Thanks for all your help!

See if you can get a better pinpoint of cities, or highway numbers. We don't know if it is north of Raleigh, east of Ashville, or where. This is an awful big state!! Maybe we can get it then.

Opps, Duh! Im sorry I should have included that info - would have been a BIG help! Thanks greenthumb!

She saw it near Winston Salem maybe Lewisville or something like that? I think she said she saw from I40 that might help as well.

Thanks!

If Lazy Daze in Cary hasn't passed already (I don't think it has) there is this guy that is a vendor (from Georgia) that does some really nice metal sculpture --and inexpensively. He made one of the farm tool sculptures (bird) that was on the property when you and your mom came out, and he also made the duck that was on the rock on the stream and the multiple school of fish towards the back of the bog - I think that was only 75 dollars and it is a large piece. Also there are some other metal artists at the Festival on the Eno, and a few more in town that I know of. I can't recall any businesses coming back from the mountains along 40 - I will ask around. Downtown Greensboro has a large complex of artists and some of them do metal --but not sure about the price. Also Cindy and Frances Vega (Cricket Forge and Vega Metals) in Downtown Durham sells at wholesale during the annual spring and fall art walk (the butterfly bench folks) Some small pieces are really affordable --the large pieces are expensive but still about 50 percent off. Also during the art walk there are folks working in metal that don't have shops other times of the year. The fairgrounds on Blue Ridge Road has a few folks that sell metal arbors, benches, plant stands, chairs etc. at reasonable prices. Anybody out there know of any more in the Triangle or Triad?

I put Cricket Forge and Vega Metals both in the Google. There were a whole lot of things to look at. Cricket Forge had more. It was fun to look at them. The sculptures were great. Wow!

the Vegas are SUPER SUPER SUPER people and they also realize that not everybody has the resources to spend on their art; and they would like to give that opportunity ..so once a year they extend very very very good pricing on their products. I don't think they can do much reduction on the Don Drumm pieces that they produce. Here is a photo of the fish stakes. I think (maybe two years ago) I paid 6.50 each for them. I am not sure what they would cost now but I am very sure it would be for under 15 - and I am being conservative. They have held up - no rust ever - shine shine shine and spark up nice in the sunlight near the water - even the stakes are very high quality including how they attach and support the fish. We have some talented folks in the triangle and triad as I am sure you know.

ITs called Joes Landscaping in Lewisville right off of 40. Big place! I havent stopped there yet but keep meaning too. Near there is another great garden center called L.A. Reynolds.
