There is always a bit of concern about the angel trumpets and pets.. A dear friend Terry had an interesting post on his Brugs and his pond fish...some gigantic Koi I thought it might be of some benefit here.. at least informative..
I Quote : And there is a huge Angels Trumpet (Eq.Pink) growing and hanging over 3/4's of the pond, with a added bonus for the
Koi, they Love (LOVE) ot eat the Trumpet Blooms and fallen leaves(!!) Yes I know they are harmful to us but not to
the fish for some reason, they've been eating them for years when they fall, and actually fight for them, go figure...
Let's see the largest is "Gorby" and he must be about 18" then there are 4 in the 14" range a few smaller Koi too
and half a dozen 7" to 9" Comets or Goldfish, oh plus dozens of Swordtails and Mollies also, "
welll interesting...so .. not to worry about the fish and the Brugs.. even eating them...
Gordon
fish friendly Angels..
Wow that is incredible.....................James
That's wild.. I wonder if the fish do it for recreation? LOL
Is it possible the fish are getting a taste of hallucinogens? ..hmmm..
Thanks Gordon, that information is good to know.
Well.. I guess it's partially a case of the only action around... although he might have found some bugs attached to a leaf.. but to go and devour a leaf and flowers.... he might be getting some of what they call recreational use.. also... must be a pretty uneventful life as a big fish in a small pond.. what is interesting.. is he's old ..well adjusted and doing fine with his self medication... as an omnivour... he's probually also enjoying just the new tastes..
Gordon ...

ctbig,
Would that be an Electric Coy-lake Acid Test sort of thing?
We have had chickens clean Foxglove ( Digitalis ) a very strong heart stimulant to the ground.

Well... that's the way I heard it..it was unsolicited and was a report of an observation by the ponds custodian/creator. But I'll go and visit to view this act..and report on it later in the summer.... sometime.. I thought it was cute..though.. Gordon
Gordon have you decided if you can join us in Forest Hill on May 16th? We're hoping you can!!!
Many things that are considered poisonous to us do not affect the birds and animals ...look at the *^% bugs that turn the leaves to lace ...they would all be dead if that were not so ...I find lots of happy little green frogs sitting in my Angel leaves and they are considered very fragile.

Isure hope so...as it is now I'll pick up mother..driving her to NewOrleans.. It might be easier to stop on the way with her.. I'm super comitted to my Saturday there..so I'll try and stop going south On Friday.. guess we'll ready ourselves in Greenville,MS the night before..so we'll be real close to make an early Friday visit with ya'll to the nurseries.. Mother is custodian of alot of my plants.. and has her greenhouse (designed and built for her when I did her house 25+ years ago ) filled with brugs and others... funny lady..she drives her age of 86.. and a few years ago...as she was learning about my daturas.. said she put a few seeds in all of her pots..
Now ...see..that's where I get it..now she's getting it back from me.. anyway..she'll enjoy the outing and seeing something unusual... we've got dinner and some sort of school related activity in New Orleans that evening.. I hope to bring a few unusual items myself .. perhaps some of these .. Gordon
Chrissy...and just how do you know it doesn't effect them.. and why do you think they are there first.. before hitting your other plants..
