First to answer Kris's questions to me in another thread.
No, Aruba was not handled at all at the store. He was bought at Petco and she was very upfront in telling me that. She said he may be a bit peckish at first. The first time he went on my finger, I had my hand in his cage a good half hour before he hopped on instead of flying away. He is getting better every day. Today, when I walked in the room, he jumped up to his perch right inside the door. This is where he usually is when he gets on my finger. I took that to mean he was telling me "Here I am mom! Come and get me." So I did and he hopped right on. ^_^
His first word will hopefully be Hi Aruba and I say it to him over and over. He is MY birdie so no one else really does anything with him. DH will cheap at him a min. or so when he first comes in the room but that is about it. It will for sure be me and only me doing the training.
I am having fun with Aruba and he has been so good for me. At last weigh in, I have been so busy working with Aruba (no time to shovel in junk food) that I have lost an amazing 7 lbs since his arrival!!
