passiflora incarnata, PLEASE tell me if this is one!

Manning, SC(Zone 8a)

A fellow DG'er gave me my first passi seeds last fall, and I planted a few outside (no luck with the ones I planted indoors). With the bluebirds scratching around in that spot for their little worms, I think the seeds got scattered, and this is the only seedling that has come up. But with so many other weed and tree seeds blowing around, I'm not sure if this is a passi or not!! Can anyone tell me if I should hold out hope that I'm going to have a successful Maypop for my gulf fritillaries?

Yippee, one positive, thanks cong up there in NY (we just moved south from CT a year and a half ago, winters are so much easier now!).
Anyone else going to make my day? I really do hope it is a passi!!!

Looks like a P. incarnata seedling to me thea611. Congrats! Please make sure to post more pics as it grows and flowers.

I sure will, thanks Erick! I'm so excited, I can't wait to watch it grow!!!

you will need to put neting over it as soon as you see baby cats on it pick those ones off or it will never grow paul

Thanks Paul, now you've got me thinking! I wonder when the adult frits are likely to find it, would they before it flowers? I'm growing it FOR the baby cats, but I don't want it to get chewed down right away, and then I wouldn't have more to feed them as they grow. Yikes, this could get complicated. I really need a FEW plants, not just one; I wish my seeds had done better......

Thea611, once you plant these passi. (incarnata), they will send out runners every which way but loose. So get them in the ground ASAP, next year you'll have enough to feed an Army of babies cats. Mine send out runners yards away from where they originated. I'd dig those straying babies and planted them where they need to be, but then new one will come back up. (The g.f. cats were abundant last year so were the b.f., and I raised a few for the 1st time) I was thrilled.
Happy gardening.

Hey Kim, nice to hear from you!!! Yeah, I'll probably lose my enthusiasm for the plant once it is established and starts popping up everywhere, but right now I just want to baby it along and make sure I have at least one plant! Last year, the gulf frits didn't seem to show up til late August I think it was, but I felt bad I didn't have any of their host plant (though they LOVED nectaring at my lantana plants). This year I hope they'll be happy to find I'm trying to supply them with host plants for their cats, and then maybe next year I'll have more. Isn't this the most fun you've ever had??? I just released my 22nd. black swallowtail from my batch of chyrsalides that wintered over since October; I can't believe these delicate creatures stay in suspended animation for SO long! See you on the Butterfly forums!!!!
