My friend and I have taken over a butterfly garden in a park....What annuals should we add to attract the butterflies??????

My first thought of annuals for butterflies would be Zinnias (especially those shaped like a daisy), Tithonia rotundifolia and Rudbeckia hirta.

Yes, zinnias and coneflowers also. Not sure what else they might like in your zone. Such a nice for you to do. They will reward you in time..

In the fall, sow some viola seeds. They are host plants for the smaller butterflies (of course I forgot which ones) But you'll ahve early blooming flowers in the early spring of '09 and early butterflies too!
