Well, the winter this year was really hard on my plumerias I rooted last year. Mostly due to my neglect I let them get too dry then over watered. Managed to rot about 1/2 of my collection! Rats... all that work. It's my fault though. I thought I would share with you the only "plumeria" blooms I can manage to "grow" myself.. so far. I made these on my embroidery machine.
Tammie
These may be the only Plumeria Blooms I ever see!
And more d-mail.
Dutchlady has given me a great idea.. I can make these as a flat flower that can be sewn onto anything.. and they are washable.. similar to an applique you buy in the store.. only nicer! Oh, the ideas are already coming! Will share pictures when I have a test completed. ... the endless possibilities of colors! LOL I may not have growing blooms but my bloom collection I think is going to grow!
Tammie
You got a D-mail!!!
Beautiful, LL. Don't forget there is a new auction site being designed for DG, too. I bet you'd find a large number of people who would love these - or other flowers?
That is a good idea.. can't wait to see it up and running. I am not working right now due to a separated pelvis so any income would be helpful.. I also enjoymaking them very much. I was just thinking of my next color combination. Maybe some dark pink.... I do have some designs for other types of flowers but they require me to find foral centers for them... these don't require me to buy anything I don't already have. That is handy. Here is a kitchen towel I did.. a fellow DGer received this as a gift. I have some aprons I do also to use when working in the potting shed.... handy.
Ahhh Tammie - you did good...they're beautiful!!! Your well rooted plumies should do ok for you through the winter. I just shove mine in the living room toward the end of Oct. and water every now and then. Then come March i start a watering schedule...and they sprout of their little/big leaves....cute babies!!
Wow... those are awesome... I am no where near that talented... let us know when you start to sell them...
Brittany
They're lovely. You should find a way to sell them. They would also make nice hair ornaments or pins.
They might be if I could figure out a way to make the wires more well attached... they will come apart as they are with a lot of handling. I managed to keep one on the handle to my purse for about a month before it fell apart.. need to put it back together. I really enjoy making them.
Tammie
I wish I could stick my nose into that picture and smell them!
They're the only blooms I've had....and that was TWO summers ago...I really hoping this year!!!
They sure are beautiful.. I have your address.. think I may stick one of these flowers in the mail to you... you have been waiting a looooong time too! LOL
Tammie
No Tammie - you are so sweet...you should try to do one of the classified ads....or maybe one of the others has an idea so you can get some $$ for your pretties!!! No blooms last year was my fault...sadly I didn't figure it out till about the end of summer...even after hearing the Plumie Gurus say repeatedly HEAT, HEAT, HEAT...LOL.
You can get those cold soldering iron things for a small amount of money. I have no idea how well they work. Maybe that would work.
they are not wire to metal but wire to essentially. ... fabric .. thread to be more exact. I am working on some ideas but these are designed more to be put in a vase or arrangement.. not handled a lot. As for the regular embroidery.. that can go on almost anything and be washed all it needs.
Tammie
Oh. Hot glue?
that is what I am using now.. it does not want to stick to the thread well.. at least it sticks well as long as you don't play with it a lot.
... I have a hard time not messing with them.. they are so pretty.
Would something like Stitch Witchery work or no?
What if you got thin sheets of plastic (kind of like the ones that stickers come on in Wal-Mart - scrapbooking section) and spread a layer of fabric glue over the plastic on one side and then laid the flowers on top of the glue? Then you would be able to secure the thread together without having to over handle it and they would have longer life spans and be able to take more abuse. Take in to account that I'm assuming the glue, once dry, would easily peel off of the plastic.
Maybe then the hot glue would stick better for you. It's worth a try.
Good luck!
Tammie are you taking custom orders?
I have a few id like you to make.
Send me a price list and well talk
