Just a quick note: The David Liddle order that David Elliott hosted has been received by David, and he is currently in the process of sorting 320 + cuttings, that are no longer individually bagged, but randomly stuffed in four 14 inch square boxes to create a large package.
What I have heard is that David has enlisted the help of his sister, and good friend, and are working very hard to get every one's cuttings boxed and ready for shipment first thing in the morning.
I think that every member of this group order owes him a huge "thank you" for getting the cuttings out of customs, treated by a broker ( who even knows how to find a broker in their own town, let alone one clear across the country), and in his hands, in only one week turn around time from their arrival in the states. Bravo!!!
I had my turn hosting an international order, and with no glitches found it absolutely nerve racking. I realise that tensions are at an all time high, but hope everyone can appreciate the hard work and dedication that David put into making this order as smooth and successful as possible for all of us.
Thank you David,
Sara
The David Liddle Hoya order is packed and ready to go!!
When I spoke to David a couple of days ago he was hoping to get them today ... I am amazed! I figured it would be sometime early next week at the soonest!
Yes, a HUGE THANK YOU DAVID! I am retired and I can't imagine doing something like organizing a co-op of any kind, especially one where the plants are coming from another country! I don't have the patience, energy or nerves to handle all the red tape and possible hassles. I would have been a basket case by now! I know it was a very stressful couple of days for you, and I am really appreciative of your efforts in this co-op! You did good!
Can't wait to get my new hoya babies and try my best at rooting them!
Thanks again,
Lin
Forgot to say: Thank You to David's Sister and Friend also ... that's a lot of sorting and packing! I can just picture the faces of the postal clerks when you get to the P.O. with all those packages!
Lin,
Thankfully the broker was very careful in doing the best he could to keep each individual order separated from one another when he repacked the cuttings. Careful as he was though some things still got mixed up and it took quite a while to get the mess sorted out,but it's done!!!
The cuttings believe it or not are still very green (for the most part) a few yellowing or brown leaves here and there but not many. They all appear to be very healthy and viable also. I do need to let everyone know though that there were broken/bent cuttings in EVERY package including mine but that was to be expected after all they've been through over the past week and I am guessing that this can most likely be blamed on the USDA and the broker.
Sorry I havent posted sooner but I just wanted to get things boxed up and ready to go and get my own cuttings taken care of . I did take a few pictures but havent gotten around to getting them from the camera yet.
The boxes will go out first thing in the morning and will have delivery confirmation numbers which I will give to everyone once I get back from the PO.
Thanks for the heads up!
Woo Hoo .... I better get my little pots ready! I bet we get them on Monday!
David ... again, Thank You very much for all the effort you put into this co-op. I really look forward to receiving my cuttings, even if they are bent, and have some yellow leaves .... they have been through a lot! I'm going to try my hardest to get them to take root and grow! I might be asking lots of questions in the next couple of weeks!
I spent the better pat of yesterday afternoon sorting and boxing our cuttings. IT took a while to get it done but it's DONE! At 9am this morning my time all of teh boxes were shipped so I would begin looking for them as early as monday and would think that by tuesday they should have all reached their destinations.
attached is a picture of all of my cuttings to show just how well they actually still look.
Wow, what a wonderful collection of new cuttings, David. As I don't have a gh, I can only enjoy yours. I really like the looks of kalimantan. Maybe some day.
Thanks for giving us the show.
Dee
I was going to ask what that one was called. Those leaves caught my attention right away!!
ML 1168 sp. Kalimantan is officially on my "Must Have" list.
I bought that particular hoya sight unseen but am very glad that I did!!!! Dee are you still using the beer fertilizer??? I have found that is seems to really intensify the colors in those bicolored leaves on hoyas like callistophylla and finlaysonii.
threeg's those leaves do kinda reach out and grab ya don't they!!!!! Sara said they almost blinded her!!!!!
Yes to the beer fertilizer on all my plants which includes a lot of cactus and succulants. I am seeing great new growth on almost everything already. Usually new growth does not really get started until I move everything outside.
And I agree with Sara about being blinded. Be sure to keep us posted on how that one does.
Thanks David,
Dee

Great choices David!!! I was going to ask about the Kalimantan!!! That has AMAZING leave coloration!WOW
And YES A HUGE THANK YOU!
Thank you for your hard work in putting it all together- thanks to your helpers for lending a hand
And thank you for working so hard and taking the situation in hand, over-coming all the obstacles that came up with this order and doing it with OUR best interests at heart and in such a timely manner. You did great!
WE COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER HOST FOR THIS PROJECT!!!
Thank you so much David! I am very happy that the cuttings made it through their ordeal relatively unscathed. I am happy that I got that Sarawak Dagger Hoya too; as it looks awsome. I can't wait for that box.
Doug
Wow! What a great bunch of hoya cuttings you chose David! Yeah, that IML 1168 Kalimantan is Wonderful! I have a feeling that is going to be on everyone's wish list now! I know I am going to put it on mine and maybe it will be available in the Fall! That IML1752 Sarawak is a great looking one too!
I need a beer! ^_^ I have all the ingredients for the beer fertilizer but we don't drink and I never think to buy beer! I think I will put that on my grocery list right now!
Ditto to what Dianesjungle said! THANK YOU!
Nice job, David! I, too, ordered Sarawak - can't wait. The cuttings look fantastic. (oh, please be here on monday, oh please be here on monday......)
Karen
May I ask what the one is on the top left in the first picture?
David-
OMG- I couldn't believe it when I logged on and saw this thread- I didn't think it would be our cuttings!!!!!!!! You guys are incredible- I am SOOOOO excited. HUGE thank yous to you guys for all of your hard work- you ROCK! I also use the beer fertilizer (and alternate with the MSU. I have had a huge explosion of new growth- it's awesome.
Again- THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Becky :)
I can't believe it. THEY'RE COMING, THEY'RE COMING!!!
THANK YOU DAVID! I appreciate all your hard work. Thanks for sharing pics of your cuttings too - I will be salivating under Monday or Tuesday!
Gabi
Wow. I had no idea that there were so many different looking hoyas, until I found this site. Fat leaves, skinny leaves, big leaves, small leaves. It could be a Dr. Seuss book - "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish"
How are you going to get them to root them? The lady in California is helping me with how to root hoya cuttings, but she said to ask lots of questions, and my cutting will do very well.
Thank you.

So happy that they are OK and on their way. A BIG Thank You to David for organizing and seeing this through in spite of the glitches.
Marcy
Just a quick stop in to say-THEY'RE HERE!!! woohoo!
will post more later!
Got mine too. I only had a quick minute to check while on my break, but overall things look really good. I ordered a rigida clone that is absolutely amazing - HUGE leaves (almost latifolia big!!), and it could have been cut yesterday.
Probably could have passed on the express option, but hey, since I was splitting the shipping with a friend, I think it was well worth the extra to have the cuttings here and soaking.
Thanks again David, I think you did an awesome job.
Sara
Well, mine just arrived also, but not so good of shape (at least in comparison to prior orders). Many yellow and dropped leaves, broken stems/leaves, etc. Guess that is expected with what they have gone through. Packaging was great and arrival time from D.E. was remarkable however, and I'm sure the condition of the cuttings is due to the delays at the entry. At any rate I have them soaking in ST and will pot them up later with TLC so hopefully most will make it OK. It is warm here and very "spring" weather, so that should help them root.
Thanks again David for all your hard work on this.
Marcy
Yes, Marcy I agree with you; I don't blame David, but I'll be lucky to get 60% to root. Pretty bad shape compared to the fall order. We shall see; two of them are so bad that I won't even try, and this is coming from someone who has rooted many leafless twigs.

Got mine also - same condition as you guys are describing. I, too, do not blame David - this is just the chance we take when we order, and I'm willing to take that chance. I've got them soaking now.....we'll see.
Karen
Woo Hoo ... my mailman just rang my doorbell and my hoya cuttings are here! I only ordered 6 cuttings and all but one look to me to be in good shape! I ordered IML 1600 pimenteliana and it is labeled IML 1600 cagayanensis and it is a dead stem with only one leaf remaining, all other leaves were yellow and off the vine. But, I don't care! I am just so happy to have these babies and to try my hand at rooting them! I am off to soak them for a little while in Super Thrive (that's what I heard someone else does, so hopefully it will get them off to a good start.)
I am so sorry to hear that a couple of folks didn't fare as well but I know you are great growers so I hope they will survive for you.
Thanks again David for hosting this co-op and for all the trouble you had to go through with the problems that arose! I look forward to getting in on the fall order if there is one.
I'm glad to hear that they are arriving already but ,sorry they are not looking like they should compared to what we're used to getting. Unfortunately yes there were many broken and yellowing leaves but the broker made mention of that to me before he ever shipped them out to me so I knew to expect that.
I checked on mine a little while ago and am concerned about the survival of at least 8-10 of the 20 that I ordered. They really didn't look so bad the first day but seemed to start turning yellow and dropping some leaves almost immediately.
These cuttings have gone through a lot of stress ... what with all the rain in Australia and then the hold up at customs, then the broker that had to dip them and repack and ship to David and then out to each of us. They need some TLC after their journey. I will be extremely happy if I get even one to root for me. LOL. I am new at this hoya rooting, it's all a learning experience for me.
Hope most, if not all recover from their shock.
I got my cuttings today also. It was bittersweet, because it was very exciting to get them, but almost all of them (except maybe 2 out of the 13) look like they won't make it. The leaves are yellowed and very very soft. Hopefully I can rehydrate them. I have them soaking now, and I'll probably leave them until I get home from work tomorrow. Since H. magnifica is one of the ones that looks good, I think I'll pot it up tonight (I'm also worried about the pubescent leaves of magnifica soaking in water for 24 hours - anyone think that would be an issue?). Well, I gotta look on the bright side - H. sp. phillipines and H. magnifica look good, and I was really excited for those! H. vitellina looks pretty bad, but boy are those leaves BIG! I will be getting that in my next order if it fails on me.
Thanks for getting them out so quickly David, and thanks for all your hard work.
Gabi
Mine arrived today also! Mine all look really good except for Pentaphlebia...it's leaves are very soft, limp and yellowish. But, I'm not counting that one out just yet. Plants are survivors. With a little TLC, I'll bet most of these survive. Remember in the fall when Mark's order got lost for weeks? Didn't he end up saving some of the one's he thought for sure were goners?
My magnifica and clandestina look like they were cut literally yesterday. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this order and David, I want to thank you again for all the hard work you did. I think you did great.
Jen
Mine arrived yesterday too and I was afraid to open the box lol. All of them except for my pentaphlebia (the leaves were yellow but I still think it'll be just fine) looked good. Everyone was a little wrinkly but I soaked them in water last night and have them in vases this morning until I get home tonight and can do more with them. I think they'll all be fine though. :) Thanks so much for all of your hard work David- even though we had a pretty good setback I'm still very happy w/ my hoyas! :)
Becky
Mine were waiting for me on my front porch when I got home from work yesterday; the box was fairly badly crushed (of course), but the cuttings inside didn't look too bad---I immediately popped them into a warm bath of water and Eleanors overnight, and this morning everyone looks quite a bit perkier....I'm going to leave them soaking today, then remove and pot them tonight...think I'll use an old 10 gallon aquarium to help retain humidity...
And let me add my sincere thanks to David, who worked like a trooper and pulled things together for us all under really difficult circumstances....you did a GREAT job and I really appreciate it....thanks so much...
Shelley
My box was crushed too Shelley. They came after I left for work, so my husband was keeping a look out for them. He said the mailman managed to stuff a box the size of his briefcase into our smallish mailbox. How rude! The mailmen around here have no sense. Anything could have been in that box! But, David packaged everything so nicely in the box, the cuttings were unharmed.
Jen
Mine came today. They all look good considering what they've been through. I took mine out of the box and put them in a plastic bag with wet paper towels for moisture until I get them home. Then in a bath of water and Superthrive. A couple do have broken stems. I guess I'll cut that off and try to root that part. It's a chance I take ordering cuttings all the way from Austrailia. I can't complain. I'm happy.
Thanks David
All 18 of my arrived today in good shape. Mine went to a PO Box so they stayed overnight at the Post Office, and no freezing temps or crushed boxes (Yeah!!!) A couple have a yellow leaf or two, but considering all they have been through and the length of time they have been "off the vine" they look fabulous!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU David for all you did to get these orders together, through customs and out to all of us. I'm sorry the USDA had to get involved, but judging by my plants, they didn't treat them too badly. I'm sorry it was such a headache for you David, and thank you from the bottom of my hoya-heart for sticking in there was us all.
Mine are soaking in Superthrived water as I write and I hope to get them cut and planted in the next day or so. I am going for surgery on Thursday, so they arrived "just in the nick of time!!!"
Sue M
All 14 of my DL Hoyas arrived today - HOORAY! They were pretty dehydrated, but all were salvageable with minimal effort. After a few hours in some water and superthrive I decided to water root most of them in coke bottles placed in zip-lock bags. Some of the more succulent ones I am rooting as I normally do in potting soil. Thanks David, for your efforts!!!
Ann
