Spotted flowers - perennial - can't remember name!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I had a small green-leaved plant going in my garden 2 years ago & I was surprised to see it come back up. It was a low growing, bushy type, with spotted flowers. It was called Spotted..... (somefin or other....), and I was told it can grow quite invasively........ It doesn't look like it's coming up this year and I'd like to get another one or two. I had split it to put around the flower plot and I'm thinking I killed it with shock.......... It's a common named plant (without the Spotted designation - that was new to me), and I know I'm not giving much info. Can anyone help? I'll recognize the name as soon as I hear it........ sorry for my memory lapse lol

Is there such a thing as a spotted violet?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

yes viola 'freckles' is one but I don't know if 'spotted' is the name of any though. also some perennial geraniums (cranesbill) have spotted flowers but I've never heard of them being invasive. LOL this is like a riddle. You have to tell us if you figure it out.

Does spotted bellflower mean anything to you? It's certainly invasive enough. Campanula punctata. Also thinking spotted lamium which is the dead nettle, only sounds prettier? Now if you were talking spotted leaves, not flowers, there would be a lot more possibilities.

o good one with the spotted bellflower. How tall is it tallulah? LOL I keep thinking of pulmonaria cuz of the spotted leaves.

When I had it, it was about 6" tall plant with tiiiiiiiiiny spotted flowers. The flowers were white. It bloomed very early in the season - it was my 1st flower.

oo that sure sounds like it might be a viola. Maybe post this in the viola and violettas forum to see if they know some names?
