I have been busy today and thought I'd take a little break :o) DH has been very busy too and will be for a while to come... @ the pace he is moving, LOL He started this project months ago, but it is slowly getting done and the new one will start.. He finally bought the floor for it the other day. I can hardly wait...
In the 2nd pic with the first, he has to close that off just on the other side of the door going into the house, he is also going to close off the furnace there just b4 the door.
Projects Today :o)
Dori I set the gnome out side so I wouldn't forget to bring him with me the 25th. He is one heavy little guy :o)
Oh I need to go back out to the GH and repot some plants, its 100 out there and all the vents are opened... Once DH gets the brackets up and I get the new shelves to go up, I will be putting all my babies out there to make room in my living room and dining room. Alot of my babies didn't survive the fungus gnats :(
Wow another handy guy??
i always end up being the handy one in my relationships!!

Looks good. You are both really working this spring.I don't have a green house so it's all in the basement.OUCH!! I can barely move. I can't believe have to put 100% more than the amt. that is down there.
Well keep posting those lovely pics!!
Julie
Wow you two are very ambitious!!!! I have lots of things I would like to do wanna send the maintance man this way...? LOL. My husband is really not very handy. But I'll keep him anyway....! Ronna
Well for the past few days I have been playing in the gh, Today on the other hand, I have been very busy, I got 4 beds tilled but have to retill the one by the patio. Guy from church removed all the mulch from around his house and gave it to my dh, so I put it to good use, all but one bag went around my lilac bush... its in the first pic, Got that area tilled raked and put down that black paper up around the L. bush and dh dumped the mulch and I spread it around, 2nd project tilled, raked and papered was behind dh garage, then the side of his garage, I had to dig up irises and holly hocks and lilies I missed this past fall... Got it tilled, raked and papered... whewww But the big project is up by the patio and gh... I got between the gh and my garage last fall, today I tilled that area in front of the patio, then dh took my little tiller (lol) and tilled it again, then I raked... he said to leave it for a few days and he or I will till and rake it again, Then I will lay the paper and cedar mulch it... That is the only area that will get the cedar mulch... the other papered areas I haven't decided if I will mulch or what.... cypress mulch will go by the L bush.....
I know way more than you all wanted to know, but I am tired and burned and gabby lol... The pic of the daffs (first ones to bloom, I thru in for color rofl...
Well now that my brake is over I need to get back out and get things cleaned up some... specially my tiller :o) Then I am done for the day...
wow you were busy today!!! after work I viseted with my son and family they are going back to New York tomarrow I'm so sad I just hate it when they have to go home its so lonley :0(
Gloria
Gloria I know what you mean, when my son comes to visit I just hate to see him and Cole leave. He doesn't get to come often enough so it makes it that much harder.
A few of those spots were still really wet and by the time I got done tilling I was covered in mud lol... But oh it felt sooo good to get out there and work, I took a nice long hot shower and then dh and I went out to dinner... Rains are coming today so there won't be any work out side today :( I need to get out to the big bed and get it tilled, but will have to wait again for the ground to dry.... We still have standing water from the last rains :(
Think I will play out in the gh today :o) dh bought me some more brackets to hang shelves on... Need to clear the area so he can hang em :o) Thinking bout going and getting the great grand baby for the week end, she is getting so big, she is now sitting up by her self and holding her own bottle, won't be long and she will be running all over the place :)
Connie
I hope it dosent rain for a day or so I have a lot to get done this weekend and I don't want to do it in between rain drops I'v got some beds to till also so I have holding beds for all the little plants that I got comming for the new back yard LOL

Today we raked out all the old dead grass from the asparagus patch. I put some Preen down in there to hopefully discourage weeds from growing in there. It was great to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine. THe little granddaughter was here helping. We about wore her out. She has her own little rake and wanted to do just what we were doing.
My daffodils are blooming. I think we've turned the corner and spring is here finally. I sure hope so anyway. I got all my spruce trees fertilized. I need to finish bringing out the rest of the yard furniture and ornaments out and the garden hoses. The pole barn porch needs cleaning too. No shortage of chores.
Anyone see the full moon out tonight? Awesome.
Brenda
Hey Brenda,
I am just putting in asperagus for the first time. Do you have any suggestions for me since i know nothing about growing it!!!
Julie
Hi Julie,
I'm no expert. Last year I planted 114 one year old transplants so this will be their third year and we should be able to harvest some of it. I just planted them per the directions that came with them and let them grow. I did let them grow tall and go to seed. I had put hay in there for mulch but it didn't work out and weeds came through and I wound up removing it all. I just raked out all the dead stuff and dead grass that had grown up in there. I decided to put some Preen down to prevent weed seeds (and hopefully grass) from growing up in there. Once the spears start coming up I'm going to mulch them with this chopped up sticky straw stuff that you buy to put over grass seed. I won't blow away and hopefully will keep down any stray grass or weeds. I'll let you know how it works out. I know you don't have to keep it weeded because asparagus grows wild along ditches and manages to come up through weeds and grass etc. and gets no primping. :) I just like my garden to look neat. I know it is a long lived perennial so I took care to plant it correctly and every plant root I put in came up and did well. It's pretty when it's growing. It's kind of ferny.
I love wild asaparagus yummm its in the ditches and field behind me
Gloria
Hey thanks Brenda! Sorry it took so long for me to get back here but i've been so busy! Who hasn't??
Julie
Since I wrote my last post my asparagus took off and shot up. I have had to cut it twice now and probably will be out there cutting it again tomorrow. We've got asparaugs up to our eyeballs. Good thing we love to eat it. I'll have to put some in the freezer.
WELLLL Loon if you have to much I'm in the addy LOL
Gloria
Here's an updated picture of the back patio & around the gh. Its not done yet, but I am making progress, I love the fountain dh bought me yesterday at Lowes. Looks really good at night with the light in the bottom of it. He wants to get a solar spot light for it and a couple regular solar light to place around the bed. ^_^
The room he is working on is coming along to, all he has left to do is seal the concrete floor then paint the walls and lay the hard wood flooring. I can hardly wait ^_^
Connie
Looks beautiful Connie! You are so lucky your husband is handy. I love the fountain too. I'm sure this will give you many years of enjoyment. You have your own little Eden.
Is the room your hubby is working on an addition to your house? What are you going to use it for?
The extra room is in the attached garage, its going to be our new bedroom, he had a 30' X 24' garage built about 60/70 feet behind the attached one, after he received his settlement from when his mom passed away. We don't need 2 garages. When my son joined the Navy and I knew :( he wasn't coming back home after 4 yrs, I got rid of his bedroom and made my living room bigger and put a walk in closet in the room we're in right now and a coat closet. With the new room, we will be back to a 3 bdroom home again ^_^
Once he get the room done the he is going to enclose furnace and the doorway. once that is done he will close off the front of the garage and put french doors in. then he wants to open the wall from the living room in to the garage. Later we will add a walk in closet and bath to that beroom. Its just going to take time to get her done. Lord only knows how long its gonna take.
I forgot, he still has to run the heat into that room but ain't in no hurry for that right now. I am hoping to be out there in a couple of weeks. :o)
Sounds like you'll have a whole new house when he gets finished. :) I know you will be thrilled to have all the changes and more closets etc. I wish I had more closets in this house. In a way I guess it's good because I'd just collect more junk I don't need. :)
Brenda
Update on projects, I am so far behind on getting things done around here, when I finally get to work on one, DH starts another, geesh
Anywho, here are some updated picks of things that are finally getting worked on or completed & unfinished projects.
The new bed room is almost done, then he can start on the hallway. hope to be in there in a couple of month, rofl
We had to redo along the privacy fence, the cleomes reseeded everywhere and I still have to do the end section where the weeds have taken over, but we're gonna wait til a little cooler weather, the skitters are just way to bad right now.
I have plants I have to dig up and move and a couple of clematises :( I really hate to dig those up, I hope it doesn't kill them.

I forgot to mention, DH had a big truck load of dirt hauled in, (great dirt btw) the only sad part of it, we lost a branch on one of the trees and a robins nest along with it. :(
We're using some of the dirt to fill in along the fence and we're going to build that corner section up more, hoping it helps (water stands along that end)
Any way the rest of the dirt went to fill in the front and a new project, which is almost completed, (more new Plants will be needed - Lord I am loving it ^_^) DH bought me a few concrete statues, a pelican and an anchor and a sleeping Angel which I get that Saturday when its done being painted.
DH is going to have another load of dirt hauled in to finish building up around the front and some of it is going to go in this bed to raise it up.
I have plants I have to dig up and move, I am going to be putting all my alliums in this spot - I can't wait lol
All the petunias you see, reseeded everywhere.
You and DH have done a wonderful job on all your projects! Everything looks so nice and neat. I know that has been a lot of back breaking work. Good you can do it. I love lots of mulch. Makes life so much easier. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. I think I'm going to stock up on what's on sale and put it in the pole barn for next spring.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
Brenda
Very nice Connie every thing is looking great!!! take a breather its going to be HOT HOT HOT this week end ;0)
Hey Connie,
Long time no see...!!
I am glad you posted your pics here! It is nice to see how much you have gotten done in your yard..WOW!!
You guys have been hauling....SOIL!!! And everything else! It looks great. You make a good working partnership. I can't wait to see it in person. Maybe soon!!
Julie
One Project is done all except me sanding the dbl doors and staining them to match the trim, That will have to wait now til spring... But we finally are moved into the room ^_^... Ken has started blocking the rest of the garage off, we have to go get the drywall so he can get er done :o) plus the steps. I can hardly wait for it to get done so he can take the kitchen door down and leave that area open. It is so strange sleeping out there in that new room, fills so cut off from the rest of the house, but it is soooo quiet and peaceful out there ^_^, even with the trains going by...
Connie
We also got the corner of the privacy fence done, all I have to do is get the mulch down and I will be doing that hear in a little bit. I got the spot for the tulip bulbs I ordered from a co-op already :o) The lasagna bed isn't going to be complete til next year, Ken is going to get a few loads of top soil brought in to raise it up and also fill in the sandy area where my weeping willow is, I have been waiting for over 30 years to fill that area. It holds water really bad, will be nice to be able to walk thru it with out all the water setting there after the rains :o)
Hey Julie, long time no hear from, been waiting for you to stop by, hope it will be soon :o)
Forgot to mention, I have several bags of top soil I have been using in the lasagna bed to plant some of the plants I have along with some bulbs, that way when Ken has the other delivered he can just fill in around the plants ^_^

Good job!! Looks like a lot of work. It will pay off in the end though.
Brenda
Pepsi,
That corner would look stunning with some beautiful iris....
Nice job!!
Delane
Thanks Delane, But I have a separate bed just for Irises and beside dh has them planted all over the yard. I have that area covered with the landscaping paper, where I plant my bulbs, I don't use the paper, they multiply to fast to use paper ;-) I know I will be planting more clematis there, but I have no clue what else will go there, til next year. I will have all winter to plan it ^_^
