Did these hatch or were they something's dinner?

Yesterday, I found broken egg shells in the front, in the backyard and on the side of the house. I assumed they'd hatched, been pushed out of the next, fallen on the roof, and rolled in different directions. Today, I found one that fell on top of the garbage can that had a baby in it. I'm wondering if it just got pushed out prematurely or if the nest was raided. I'm just curious and hoping for the best. Thought you experts might be able to tell. This is one of the egg shells. All of them were white and about the same size.

This is a picture of the dead one, so don't look if you're especially sensitive.

Do you know where the nest is? Unless the nest was tilted by weather or something else they shouldn't be falling out like that. Ashame.

Looks to me like it was raided - the top pic, the egg shell is broken inwards (something bashing in from outside), not opened from the inside by a chick.

Darn it! That's not what I was hoping to hear. I can't see the nest, but it's in the Willow Oak and its branches do swing, but we haven't had any bad weather. I guess that's part of nature.
