Some Recent Blooms

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

My bromeliads have really been showing off lately but I hadn't had time to post the pictures. So sit back and enjoy! I also took several photos when I was at the USF Botanical Gardens so I'll share some of thsoe as well. My first surprise was this Androlepis skinneri that bloomed for me. This bromeliad wins the prize for "Most Blood Drawn". I think it's worth it!

Aechmea lueddemanniana This is the variegated version. In more sun it will really pink up.

I gave a pup of this to Chantell; I wonder if it's blooming?

Here it is about two weeks later after the "berries" on the bloom start changing color.

I thought I had the name of this billbergia, but apparently it's a mystery plant.

An unknown bromeliad. I think it's a Vrisea. I have one that looks similar.

Now I know this is a Vrisea.

Here's the last one for now. This is Aechmea pineliana. I'm going to the USF spring plant sale this weekend and the Bromeliad Guild and West Coast Florida Bromeliad Society always have tables set up. So expect me to share my new plants with you! Also, my Aechmea mulfordii is sending up an inflorescence so as soon as it opens I'll take a picture!

Hi Mel, love the pics, I have a Bilbergia much the same as yours, and I don't know the name either! I actually thoguth it was a clump of A. gamosepala until it flowered.
I think the unknown Aechmea is 'Royal wine'. It might be in too bright light and that is why the leaves are pale.
Keep up the pics! I for one, am watching.

Funny you should mention A. gamosepala as mine just started blooming. This is the small form, but I have the large form as well.

Me too! Ours are just starting up. What season are you in? We're in Autumn.

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

We're right in the middle of spring here.

How funny that they bloom at different seasons on opposite sides of the world. I'll take notice in Spring and see if there isn't another bloom!
