Hi ya'll from the deep south !

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Well, I guess I did it again . I've been buzzing around this forum for a couple of weeks now. Like so many others, I just discovered the welcome mat. I never have been good at following instructions . If there were any, I missed them. Anyway, I am so excited to be here. I found this site by accident and I believe that was the best accident that has ever happened to me , other than meeting my husband . He helps me tremendously with all my gardening or I would no longer be able to do it. I have limitations as I have fibromyalgia and can't do what I want to do most of the time. I am a third generation gardener as both my grandmother and mother were great gardeners. They both loved their flowers just as I do. We live in Louisiana where we have plenty of challenges that some of you living where there are colder climates do not have. I'm talking about the weeds that grow bigger than the flowers, and the bugs and pests that will either eat you or eat your plant in record time. Also, our weather is hot hot hot and dry this time of year so that means dragging water hoses and sprinklers. I let Mr. Ed (that's my husband do that ) I love any flower with a bloom on it. I especially love iris' , daylilies , other lilies, and anything that looks tropical or has tropical foliage . I am collecting seeds now in hopes of trading soon. Thanks for letting me be a part of this happy family. Looking forward to lots of chats, trades, and good info down the road. Have a great gardening weekend ya'll.

Welcome to DG, Lazydaisy!

Hi Sis, Notmartha,Deed and go_vols ,
Thanks so much for the warm welcomes to the site. I am interested in all of the states you four live in. First of all, Sis, I have always dreamed of seeing those fields of sunflowers you have there. It must be an awesome sight .
Not Martha ( Lori ) I have a dear friend here that moved here from Michigan. I think they came from the Jackson area. I love her dearly too. We are trying to turn her into a plain ole country girl. lol From what I've heard, Michigan has 4 distinct seasons and all are beautiful. I imagine that winter is the longest one. Also, I love your screen name and guessed that you were referring to Martha Stewart . If that is the case, who in the world could live up to that woman's projected image ? Or, who would want to ? I would not mind the millionaire status. lol
Deed, I have always dreamed of coming to Oregan whenever the Iris' are blooming. I would love to go to Sheinders and Cooley's and other growers in your area. We are in the same planting zone also . One day I may just jump on a plane and go. My mother has ordered from both of the above growers for years.
go_vols, I have seen your name all over this site and wandered what it meant. I noted you were from Tenn. so thought it may stand for Volunteers. Am I right. I appreciate all the entries you have placed in the plant database. You are so smart. Thanks again all for the red carpet welcome. I did not mean to write a book . Later gators,

Oh dear, the newcomers are pegging me as a "gasbag" right off the bat - yikes!!!

Yes, Go_Vols refers to our beloved Volunteers. DH is a grad, and was a walk-on player in his day; our DD is named for Peyton Manning (really glad I didn't get pregnant when Heath Shuler was there - how would I have EVER worked that into a girl's name?)

So long story short, if you poke us, our blood runs orange :)

And as for the database, please feel free to add things as you find the "holes" in it - with almost 1300 plants, it's growing tremendously, but there's still a lot of the plant kingdom not even touched by us yet. Welcome to DG!!!!!

Welcome, LazyDaisy! I'm new to Dave's Garden and I'm a really bad girl. I have definitely already jumped in and traded things and been having a blast. I always get onto my husb about not following the directions and it's me this time. Well, I was introduced to this site by a dear friend of mine, who used to be my neighbor. I love this place and everyone is so helpful and generous. I guess I'll go and introduce myself since I've already been on here almost a month. OOPSIE-DAISY!!!

Thanks for following directions and leading the way!
