This is my cv. Ruthie. She's been doing fine, except that when I bought her, I potted her into too large of a pot.
I decided not to repot her down again and she was just sitting there until.........
about a week ago she sprouted a new vine from the nub ( what's the correct word for that ? )
where a leaf once was !!
She ( sorry, since it's 'Ruthie' I guess I just think of her as a she :) ) stopped growing at the tip
of the vine right after I repotted her and now instead has sent out this new vine...
And I was wondering, should I trim the tip of the original vine so that it can start growing again ?
It tried about 3 times to restart and then gave up growing.
Any thoughts on if this is normal or not...
Normal behavior ??
Paul, personally, I don't cut anything off of a hoya unless its clearly dead. I don't know if that's common practice, but I figure if its alive, it won't hurt to leave it there, as unlovely as it might be.
If I was you, I would repot Ruthie down into a smaller pot; I have had a few hoyas eventually die in a too-large pot, even after a bit of new growth. In fact my first eriostemma died that way (H.sussella).
Hope this helps, its just my two cents.
Christine
Thanks Christine. I'm a little afraid to upset her now that she's growing. I guess
I'll just have to wait a little and see what happens !
