How long do you add sugar to drinking water

I was just wondering how old the chicks are when the sugar isn't necessary anymore? I put 1/4 cup per gallon of water.

Hi Sue. I think the sugar water is only for the first day or two and only if they have been stressed, either just weak or stressed from being shipped. There are other tonics, but sugar water in itself is just to perk them up enough to help them eat and drink on their own. Hens rarely make it for their chicks:0)!
